I am a native of Bangor. I no longer live here but I never fail to come to Blaze when I visit. This was the best experience! I felt like I was sitting in downtown Boston. The streets were alive with a contagious summer energy. The outside seating area was large and nearly full. I chose to sit inside. I sat in a window seat and enjoyed the eclectic view of people meandering by. I'm not too old to enjoy a handsome scenery...there was certainly some of that. (See photos) My waitress, Tyra (on left) was exceptionally sweet and very attentive. The bartender was friendly and makes a stellar drink. For those who aren't familiar, Blaze sits in a building that's more than 100 years old. There's a nuclear fallout shelter in the basement. Nextdoor is the Charles Inn. It's considered haunted by some and, was once featured in "Hotel Impossible". Al Brady was gunned down by the FBI just outside both buildings. In 1937 he and his gang came to Bangor to buy machine guns from a local sporting goods store. The FBI was tipped off. The shootout was described as "A spectacular gun battle" (See Wikipedia). If you come to Bangor, don't miss sitting in this beautifully renovated restaurant rich in history and in "spirits".

My fiancé & I travel for work and love to stop at new places to try. As Maine natives we were excited to stop here and try this, we were hoping to try the new Blue Hill location but it was closed. If we could rate this a zero, we would. This was hands down one of the worst experiences we've had. We were quickly seated (which was the only good thing), 21 minutes later we were greeted by our Waitress who was very soft spoken, and she did not introduce herself. We ordered our drinks, which she never brought over. We then ordered our meal and she did not write anything down, then had to proceed to come ask us details about our order again- and my food still came out wrong. We both ordered burgers, medium well. It took us 1 hour and 41 minutes to get our food, with no interaction from the Waitress the entire time. Once we received our food, our Waitress disappeared and we did not see her again. Our burgers were raw, completely rare. We payed the bill right when food was dropped off and we left after not being able to consume our meal. We don't mind paying for good food and service but $40 for 2 horrible burgers & horrible service is a bit much. Absolutely will never try again nor will we recommend to anyone.

I have to say how blown away we were with the overall quality of food and service. Everyone treated us like we have known each other for years. The menu had some very unique dishes and spins on classics. Not a single thing our group ordered wasn’t just absolutely amazing. We were easily accommodated with a family of 8. A few of us had drinks which were not only executed perfectly but conceptually well put together and delicious. Even down to the dried fruit garnish; they thought of everything. We order 2 pork belly lollipops which were so amazing that we ordered a third. Not cheap but worth every penny. Many seemed to order burgers but two of us went for the full rack of ribs special with blueberry mop. I’m telling you now these were the absolute best ribs I’ve ever had in my life. Smoking and sweet and such a huge cut of ribs. Hard to finish alone so keep that in mind. Also I think we had a tacos and a brisket sandwich. Everyone ate so much food. We couldn’t stop. Five stars is an understatement for such a surprisingly perfect joint. A must try! Ohhh I almost forgot. We also had a chorizo manzana pizza. Probably the best pizza we have ever had. Legit

First time dining at Blaze in Bangor. We had tried the Bar Harbor location several years ago and we never compelled to go back, but decided to try the Bangor location and were so glad we did! We had a wonderful lunch. We hoped to sit outside, but it was a bit cold, so we opted for an indoor table. We started with drinks. The pear martini was really delicious and flavorful. For kick I had the duck burger with a fried duck egg on top and duck fat fries as a side. The burger was perfectly seasoned and the best burger I've had in years. I would go back for the burger alone. My husband had the Cajun Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich and loved it. The thick chicken breast was juicy and seasoned well. And the aioli was perfect on top. My mother in law had the Farmers Pizza loaded with vegetables, pesto etc. It good-sized and she loved it, although we brought half home because it was so large. The service was good and the interior decor nice and kind of edgy. Lisa Steele Author of The Fresh Eggs Daily Cookbook

Early on a Saturday evening (430/5ish) No reservation, but luck was on our side. We were seated inside. There is outdoor seating too, but the skies were rumbling and it did rain while we were there. It was hot on the bar side. The restaurant side was cooler but warm. I appreciated the waitstaff's friendless. They offered samples of the beers before ordering. Good selection, great beer. I chose the McNalty (stout or port?). The pizza was delicious! We had a mushroom AND a pepperoni. We also had the wings. Cooked perfectly with a dry rub and we asked for the Thai chili sauce on the side. We got a small duck fat fries. It was plenty large enough for us all to have some. 2 adults, one 12 yo. We rarely have dessert, but their list of desserts looked so good we had to try! Bith were dedelicious. Chocolate cake and peanut butter ice cream cake on a graham.cracker crust. I doubt there are made in house..... but both were tasty!!
