9 of us stayed in 4 different rooms here last weekend. We all loved the vibe of this newly renovated lodge and agreed the beds/pillows were great. I was surprised how little I could hear of the neighboring rooms being such a structurally old building. You could hear some noise from people/traffic out the front door but not too bad. There were several small occurrences that left us feeling like this place is not yet running like a well oiled machine, but hope it will one day because overall we loved the place. -Rooms 1-14 (maybe 15?) back up to the courtyard that has the firepits and bar with easy pool access. We were excited to get room 5 (paid extra for that space) so that we could use the back door to access the courtyard and our room to serve as a hub for our friends who were in the 2 story main building, but apparently several of those rooms with back doors to the courtyard do not work and room 5 was unfortunately one of them. Supposedly new locks have been ordered, but that was a bummer and a walk around the building each trip. -Loved the courtyard bar and was open when we got there Friday from 4-10. Saturday the bartender was a no-show so it was completely closed (Toogie's always an option!) which was a minor inconvenience. -No steamer or iron in the room -Coffee stations varied per room what kind of keurig cups we all had. Ours only had tea and decaf stocked. -Loved the game room/hangout space. Really beautiful and comfy but the only indoor hangout space. It's unfortunately only open when the bar is open as it's attached to the bar. -Happy the pool was still open in September as it was still mid-80's out. Had to hunt down the pool towels though. -There are sidewalks into town if you want to walk which was a perk! Not really a scenic walk until you get close to the square but not too far. Sidenote- we tried 5 distilleries while there. In order of fav to least- Willet, Bardstown Bourbon, Makers Mark, Heaven Hill, Four Roses Distillery. Willet, BBC, and Heaven Hill...
Read moreThe Bardstown Motor Lodge is located smack dab in the middle of Bourbon Country.
It is a renovated mid-century motor lodge that enables you to easily park your car and it’s extremely convenient to load and unload your car.
The facilities are impeccably clean, and the beds are unbelievably comfortable.
The outdoor swimming pool is salted and heated and my favorite part of our bourbon-forward vacation was swimming in the pool every morning.
The staff was kind and friendly, and it’s clear that the owners have a strong sense for comfort and hospitality. Small, thoughtful touches are evident throughout the property. For example, there were small bags of s’mores tied with an orange ribbon for guests to make s’mores in the evening and there were many fire-pits for guests to take advantage of. We were also impressed by the pool bar with many bottles of bourbon and the amenities in the room itself. The room had a great mini-fridge and a very large flat-screen TV.
The location of the hotel was amazing, and we were able to visit five wonderful distilleries over two days that were all within 15-20 minutes (or less!) of the motor lodge. We had such a wonderful time at this motor lodge that we asked to extend our stay.
We have stayed at hotels with these same amenities that were over $400 a night, so the affordability, cleanliness, and overall experience that this motor lodge provides is not to be missed. We look forward...
Read moreWe had 2 rooms: a single king (room #4) and a double queen (room #18). ||Pros: The rooms were nicely sized. Beds were very comfortable. Mini fridges were also of a nice size. This is a pet friendly motel. The pool is shallow 3-4 foot, but great after a hot summer day. There were lots of towels and chairs around the pool area. There were great seating choices around the fire pit as well. Room 4 had a backdoor leading to the back patio, pool, and fire pit area. The shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, and lotion provided smelled great! The ac was very effective. TVs were large. The parking was nice and the staff were super friendly and kind. They actually allowed us to check out late. The inside is way cuter than extended on the outside. ||Cons: The bathroom doors did not latch or stay shut. They were no longer aligned with the jamb (I believe due to shifting and wood swelling in the heat). The king room shower originally had doors on a track, but now had a curtain which was very close to you while showering. We had to crack the curtain to lesson the curtain coming in and touching us. The corners and sides of the rooms weren’t very clean, there were small rocks and small dead bugs. The windows didn’t have curtains and you could see around and through them. The keys didn’t always work. ||Overall, this was a very basic motel with some...
