My college roommate and I initially liked our room and stay very much. The room face the traffic circle and, and while it was indeed a busy area, we were able to sleep comfortably. There were some amenities, like water and a mini-frig provided with the room that we appreciated. We enjoyed the complementary breakfast and the service—kudos to the sweet, young lady that waited on us each money. We ate at the restaurant only once and found the meal a bit overpriced albeit acceptable. I will echo a previous comment that the roast beef was sparse and absolutely drowning in thick gravy. The Inn was in a wonderful location for walking around/exploring Bardstown. It also had a rustic charm and was “comfortable”; the tavern was a wonderful way to experience a bit of bourbon and good local music. |Now, for the downside which put quite a damper on our overall experience and means that we will NOT plan a future reunion with fellow college grads here. I accidentally left some clothing and a sentimental piece of costume jewelry hanging in the wardrobe of our room. Since we had further places to travel on the day of checkout, I was unable to call the Inn until the following day. I explained the situation and was promised a return call. No one called. I made three more calls, leaving messages and a callback number each time before connecting with someone. I find this inexcusable for a reputable inn. I was quite frankly appalled at the lack of customer service. I knew that with the passing of each day, it was becoming more unlikely that I would retrieve my clothing and necklace. When I finally reached someone, he did agree to check it out and then returned a call to say the items could not be located. They disappeared somewhere between the room being cleaned and the room being checked off prior to the next guest arrival. I have not been contacted regarding any next steps, such as completing a claim form. Having a problem getting any timely attention and return call over the course of a week is a reflection of a lack of commitment to good customer service. Be aware of that lapse should you choose to stay here. It may become apparent in other areas of...
Read moreWe were looking for a place for dinner on a Monday evening and oddly enough a lot of places in Bardstown are closed early in the week. We had heard that Old Talbott Tavern was good and wanted a real Bardstown experience so we decided to try it out. When we walked in the front door we saw the door and sign for the bourbon bar which we assumed was where we were supposed to go. We didn't realize that there was a restaurant farther back to the left of the gift shop area because there were no signs to tell you that. The bar wasn't that busy at first but the tables were on the small side and we had to get a chair from another table because another gentleman was using it as his armrest. The bourbon selection was great! When we asked for a food menu they kinda looked at us strange. Our waiter was not super friendly and as the bar got busier seemed to totally forget we were there! Did eventually bring us our food, but my salad was served with my meal which is not the norm. Never asked us if we wanted refills on our drinks which my husband and I both ordered bourbon. Almost forgot about the appetizer, it was a beer cheese dip. When we asked what it was served with he said pretzel bites. What it's actually served with is thin pretzel store bought crackers. A little misleading at best. Our meal itself was quite good and we enjoyed that. The atmosphere and service was awful! At the end when we finally got our waiters attention to ask for our check, he came back and asked my husband and our friends if it was split down the middle which is ridiculous because our friends got no drinks and 1 dish to share. He obviously didn't want to bother splitting it up correctly. Needless to say if we had known about the really nice restaurant on the other side of the lobby we would have definitely had a much better experience there. The bar is not setup for food service and doesn't seem to want to be bothered by it so they should just stick to the drinks and send people that want food across the lobby. We wished we...
Read moreNothing has changed by staff or management about the "maid service" since their last response. We had 4 rooms for a week to tour bourbon country, upon check-in all went well and the accomodations were clean. When I returned to the room after the first day of our experience, the room was untouched, and staff not around. On day two I put out the "make up room" sign and when returned the bed was made, no change of linens, and a few towels replaced. On day three and 4 the same. When returned on day 4 my toilete had still not been cleaned or the sink and the floor never vacumed. I took a picture of this and sent it to the hotel manager and they sent someone to just clean the toilite. This continued for the remainder of our 7 day stay. The staff is capable, but there is no management on the premesis and I find it hard to believe that they ever visit the property. No fresh linens, no floors vacumed, no sink cleaned in 7 days. We sat in the upstairs area and had drinks a few nights, we left empty bottles and glasses on the table on Sunday to see when they would be cleaned, they were still there on Tuesday when we checked out. The room price is the same every day but the service and value are not. Breakfast included at the tavern was ok but they ran out of bacon. Had dinner at the inn one night and food was ok but they are severely understaffed in every operation of this establishment, and the employees make a lot of excuses for their shortcummings. It seems that the Manager and Owner never walk the property and there seems to be no supervison of the staff. I think you're ok to stay for one night, if you're planning to stay longer find a different hotel. So much potential for this property, the experience of our party of 4 was sub-standard. They charge you for the entire stay upon check in so you...
