The best and original downtown Bardstown pizza place! No frills, no gimmicks, no lies. Their pizza dough is a special blend and literally made in house everyday! This is as fresh as it gets! Top that dough after it's baked into a savory crispy crust with 100% fresh never frozen (sorry Papa J) meats, veggies, and cheeses and you have one incredible meal that will make you a patron for life. Try any combination of the available ingredients you can fathom or go for any number of their one of a kind creations. I'm partial to my own combo of white sauce, pepperoni, mushroom, roasted red peppers, mozzrella, and housemade spicy sauce but that's just one possibility. Now the stars of the show, when it comes to this restaurant, may be the pizzas but I would be remiss not to mention the delectable pasta dishes or heaven forbid I forget the homemade tiramisu! No where in town will you find anything like it! You may be thinking you came to a small southern town and you want some real southern country cooking, not pizza! Right? Hate to burst your bubble but unless you get invited to a little old southern lady's house for Sunday dinner, you will not find TRUE (not from a box) southern cooking in town. Cut your loses and eat where the locals eat! Cafe Primo will not disappoint and will NOT try to swindle you with imitation products, mediocre entrees, or fake southern hospitality. They are the real deal when it comes to being a true small town family owned and operated business. The owners actually work in their own restaurant! Husband and wife power duo, Damir and Maja, put their heart and soul into this business and the food they serve our community. Most nights you can find Damir in the kitchen making pizzas and Maja in the front of house dishing out those pizzas! And they still find the time to raise their two young boys and are avid supporters of the local high school soccer team! Their sheer dedication, honesty, and commitment to serving quality cuisine to the residents of Bardstown and its visitors is the definition of small town hospitality. To put it simply if you want REAL good food... don't hesitate or fall into the fake frozen southern food trap... go to Cafe Primo! And then treat yourself and go back...
Read moreNot good and over priced My wife and I arrived at 5:15pm, their own facebook page says they open at 5 but was promptly told when we walked in that they were not open till 5:30, so we waited outside until that time and was the first ones in. Despite that the service was still slow, they did a good job on refilling my drink often, since the glasses were so small and filled with all ice they had to do it often.
The Food First off my wife ordered lasagna but couldn't even try it because they were all sold out. First ones in, a limited menu and they are already out of a main dish?
Salad My wife had the Insalata Caprese, it was a simple salad, it didn't taste bad but it was drowning in vinaigrette, you could drink it off the plate. It was was over powering and ended dominating the taste of the whole dish
Pizza I wanted ravioli but it wasn't on the menu, not a problem I read great reviews on their pizza so I ordered the Peperoni Classico. Either those reviews are fake or they had a really off night. Not only was it over priced it had almost no toppings, it was wafer thin, hardly any sauce or meat or cheese and the edges of the crust were burnt. So burnt that my finger were turning black on the edges of it. It wasn't terrible as far as taste but it wasn't good either. It's sad when Dominoes makes a better pizza for half the price.
Spaghetti For $13 my wife got a bowl of spaghetti, or should I say noodles with a bland tomatoes sauce on it. Nothing else came with it, not even bread sticks. We ended up taking it home and I added cheese and spice to it and made it a lot better.
Tiramisu This is the one good thing I can say about this place. The Tiramisu was delicious, it was soft and tasted fresh.
I came here because I was excited about eating at a real Italian restaurant and I left disappointed with the service , with the food, and $50 poorer knowing I over paid for terrible food, so disappointed I felt compelled to...
Read moreDisappointed with the dining experience. I know things happen in a restaurant when it's busy, I used to own one. That being said... I would not have sent a server out with burnt food. They asked will it be ok? No, burnt food is never ok. I asked if we could keep two of the slices that were somehow undercooked. The server snapped at me and told me that they would yell at her for letting us have the two slices while they fired a new pizza. Meanwhile our friends who ordered pasta were served thier meals. They ate slowly as they felt bad about the fact we had to wait. I was upset but thought that my hangry mood might pass and would reserve my ire and judgements after eating. I also wanted to see how they would handle the screw up. I paid full price for the pizza and for our drinks. The server was hesitant to come to the table and avoided us as we were ready to check out. This went from a 3 star to 2 star experience the more I thought about the lack of customer service. Come on, WTH your gonna trash the pizza because it's burnt...unless you have a dog in the kitchen to feed it too. Let me and my wife have two slices. If your going to yell at staff over that and they yell at me that's missing the hospitality point. Then no comp on the beer or glass of wine or a discount on a mistake burnt food that you sent to my table. Next time... nope not a next time here! If it's busy wait till it's not busy. The end... The final pizza that came out was almost raw on two slices. There must be a spot in the oven that needs some attention. I would have sent it back but we could not find a server. The dog in the kitchen wins again. We left cash on the table and...
