Veteran's Memorial Park is a pleasant, serene oasis nestled around the State Capitol. There are a tremendous variety of plants that create a forest like atmosphere. The walking trails are for a casual stroll or healthy workout.

The park is an awesome way to observe the birds that are featured around the vibrant lake near the state government buildings. The ducks are a favorite along with the other species. Please be respectful of their habitat. Turtles abound in the lake as well.

Last we checked there were no alligators. There is plenty of free parking and the park closes at...

My boyfriend, and I take out 3 baby girls to get some sun. Beautiful, and such a wonderful place to get some fresh air and some quiet. They love the lake, the ducks, the friendly dogs that run around. They absoulustley love rolling down the hill, bellies just rolling. Chasing squirrels. They also have the best tiny climbable trees that they love to climb and sit on. Sometimes we'll go a couple times a week on a lunch date, or one every couple weeks. We just...

The atmosphere was magnetic for me and my date. Although we went after dusk, signs everywhere say "PARK CLOSED AFTER DUSK" we stayed on the street. Their are patrols that roam the area so be careful! We didn't want to risk the ticket, however we decided to walk through the street in the bike lane. At night the street lights reflect off the water and create this ambiance of stars in the water. Highly recommended before the bugs come out...

Small cozy and tranquil place. I liked their bronze George Washington's bust and memorial dedicated to Spanish troops which captured Baton Rouge from British in 1779. Didn't like that memorial was built on top of Indian ceremonial mount. From the other side it is such a crowd of cultures -- British, Spanish, Indians all together finally became Louisianans with a pinch of Canadians and some Africans.

What an incredibly beautiful park! While I was there wedding photos were being taken as well as some other photo shoot with models. The trees are old, lush, and large and the flowers are vibrant. I would love to see it in the Summer! Absolutely stunning! A must see! My pictures don't do it justice at all! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
