11/19/21 Reservations for 7:30 P.M. First time visit!

At first, my dinner date and I were seated at a small table for 2, and though this was a bit frustrating, we rolled with it and understood that there were more groupings of 3+ Patrons dining. (On my reservation I asked to be seated at a large table and mentioned the purpose: that my dinner date and I would be trying several items.)

To MY surprise, after a group left a table, it was immediately cleared off for us, and our waiter moved us along after the manager/owner mentioned there being a better spot for us. (GREAT JOB, MANAGEMENT TEAM!)

NOW FOR THE FOOD REVIEWS: EVERYTHING I ATE WAS AMBROSIAL!!!!

Vegetable Lasagna is INCREDIBLE!!!!! YOU MUST TRY IT! Whoever placed this on the menu is a genius!!!

The OSSO meal: TENDER MEAT!!!!! GREAT MASHED POTATOES and the vegetable medley was an awesome combination and prepared well.

BRAISED BEEF CHEEKS appetizer is a Must!!!!!!! I HAVE NEVER TASTED THIS ITEM PREPARED AS TENDER ANYWHERE ELSE THAT LISTS IT ON THEIR MENUS! It is another absolute must!

OCTOPUS 🐙 MEAL: Okay, this was the first time I tried 🐙(and last...but only because my growth mindset is limited on this oceanic creature). It was well-marinated, too. It was tender and juicy. If I had to compare it to something, it would be to that of a tender and well-seasoned piece of chicken breast.

Yummy PASSION FRUIT DESSERT!!!!!!!!

Who came up with this menu? Very tasty!

Restaurant ambiance is nice! Our waiter was THE BEST!!!! (I forgot his name, but he was handsome with long hair.)

This restaurant needs to be featured on the Food Network/Cooking Channel.

The Chef and other cook staff/bar tenders really work hard to prepare tasty food and drinks here.

The presentation of the food is unlike any other in these parts.

At the end of our great time here, the owner/manager came by and let us know that he was aware of accommodating us to a bigger table and that he just couldn't initially. (Very impressive and great for customer service and establishing a rapport of honesty and fulfillment...

We had high hopes for this place but unfortunately our first experience with Cocha is most likely going to be our last. First off, we had a reservation for Mother’s Day. We got there on time and got seated right away. The waitress didn’t take long to greet us and get our orders. I was surprised that there were no options for appetizers on the lunch menu, besides the soup of the day which wasn’t very appealing. Mind you, we got there hungry and excited to try the food.

We waited a whole HOUR to get our food. I don’t know how their kitchen works, if they were understaffed or who knows. But waiting a whole hour on your food is not ok especially since the restaurant did not look that busy.

Maybe the wait would’ve not been this much of an issue if the food that we got was actually worth waiting on. My criollo was so tasteless. The rice and beans had no salt whatsoever, arepa with cheese as well. Tasteless. The pork was the only thing that had some kind of flavor. On the other hand, my husband’s overpriced and small beef of the weck was way too salty. Before we even got our food, we were planning on getting dessert. After being done with our entrees, we had no desire on waiting another hour to get our dessert.

We’ve heard great things about this place and definitely got there happy to try something new and different. I also hate leaving bad reviews, however this whole experience was extremely...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hands-down the best ribeye we’ve ever had! Cocha absolutely blew us away. My husband and I stopped in for dinner and ordered the ribeye steaks with leek purée, mushrooms, and asparagus—and let me tell you, we’re still talking about it! Perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. That leek purée deserves its own fan club. We got the yellowfin tuna & rice as an app and it was spicy and delicious! The service was just as incredible as the food. Jess was our server and she was phenomenal—warm, attentive, and super knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. She made the entire experience even better. We sat out front, which was such a cozy and relaxing spot. The vibe was peaceful and inviting, and since we were staying within walking distance, we got to enjoy a lovely stroll to and from the restaurant. The cocktails? Also a 10/10. Cocha is the whole package: food, drinks, service, and atmosphere. If you’re in Baton Rouge, this place is a must. Five stars all the way! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
