I went there last night to see a scary movie called Resident evil raccoon city. This was after we watch the parade which was very cold outside and went to the Chinese buffet. At 6:30 we walked to the movie theater from Mings buffet. My daughter and I paid for our tickets, bought popcorn snacks and then we were told that the movie was playing up the stairs. I was curious I’ve never been upstairs at this movie theater before but we walked up the stairs and one in the lobby area was warm and we walked in the movie theater it was absolutely unearthly frigid cold. We sat down it was very uncomfortable I checked the thermostat was set to 60 and it was locked in an acrylic case in the back of the theater which obviously was a mistake because you can’t have a business at 59° Which was showing on thermostat that is absolute torture to your customers. I went downstairs about five minutes before the movie started and told the person behind the counter the older gentleman next to the young kid that was serving popcorn and I said sir you can’t play a movie in 50+ degree temperature it’s like sitting in a frozen garage there must be something wrong can we have the manager please turn on the heat. He told me that in the winter there’s nothing they can do I said it’s temperature controlled and the thermostat is set to 59 you’re just saving money on heat why are you even open. Let me speak to the manager please. He said that he has no access and doesn’t know how to contact the manager of this movie theater. This tells me that the food I’m eating an every thing in this place needs to be condemned. The men’s bathroom was disgusting and broken the toilet was blocked which means you can’t even use the bathroom at this place. I always and purposely shop and spend my money locally but when a local business could care less about any customers or keeping them comfortable in their seats than they need to be closed immediately. My daughter has a sore throat this morning and I’m thinking about...
Read moreMy husband and I have gone to this theater often since we live in Beaver Dam. This past Sunday we went to see a movie at 1pm. We arrived 15 minutes early and saw other people standing outside on the sidewalk. After speaking to them, we found out that there seemed to be no one in the building. We waited around for a while to see if maybe an employee was running late, but nothing. I went on their Facebook page to see if maybe there was a message on there of an emergency or power outage, but there was no new posts. I did see that someone commented on their last post about how they were also at the theater that day, but at noon for a movie- and again, there was no one there. Obviously we did not see out movie.
I tried to contact the cinema on their Facebook messenger and told them what day we were there and that we were disappointed. They did reply, but when I explained why I was writing, I got a statement, but no real apology or invite for us to please give them another try. Instead, I got this:
"Yes it is and that person is no longer employed by Beaver Dam Cinema. There are time in our lives that bad things happen and we just fix the issue and move on."
I have worked in the customer service industry for 30 years, and I like to think that I am a kind person who tries not to criticize a small business for little mistakes. But I also believe that a business should be apologetic and let customers know they do want their business. I was not rude, and never asked for any sort of compensation. I was just curious what had happened and thought maybe an apology. I even suggested a nice little blip on their Facebook page would go far to show their patrons that they care about keeping their business. Instead, they did not reply to me again, and there is no post on their FB page. It's just sad to see a company just be defensive instead of welcoming patrons to try them again in...
Read moreLast time I was at this theater was probably a good 10+ years ago, and nothing has changed. That isn't really a good thing. This place desperately needs a remodel. Everything is in a state of old: the decor, the film equipment, and the building and it's systems. There is an air of "dirt and dinge". The carpet is extremely worn in high traffic area, essentially just a thin layer of cloth now.
The movie we saw was in screen 2. The sound quality was not very good or immersive. I didn't feel "surrounded" by the noise. The screen size is small compared to other updated movie theaters (maybe other places have the "mega screen" size for ALL their sceens?). The seats were uncomfortable and tightly arranged, as if one was in economy on an airplane.
It was hot and humid that day, which permeated into the theater. One could smell the years of sweat and spills built up in the carpet and cloth seats permeating into the muggy air. The railings, floors, and doors were sticky. We saw one little dehumidifier in a hallway sitting silent, helplessly blinking "full bin", as if the small thing made for a single room in a home could help in any meaningful way.
The staff was very kind, and I commend them for doing what they could to keep the place "clean".
I do hope this theater recieves the remodel it needs. It would be extensive and expensive, but...
