Dog Beach Review: I'm going to be very honest in this review. The dog beach is good. It's a small, almost island-like beach with a large sea wall behind it (which keeps the dogs from leaving the beach, too.) The community of dog owners that come to the beach regularly are very friendly and cooperative, the beach is kept clean, there is plenty of parking, and bathrooms/refreshments are less than two minutes' walk away. All you could hope for, really.

Now, the downsides...

Several times we've arrived to people fishing on the dog beach. Dogless people, too. I don't need to tell you why fishing lines, hooks, and non-dog-friendly people are a bother at a dog beach. The fishing honestly astounds me because these same people have piers available all around the area, not to mention a plethora of nearby beaches, but choose to come here and keep everyone limited in playtime.

Next is a minor detail, but something some individuals may dislike it. This is a mud beach. What I mean by that is that the sand and dirt ratio are one and one. So when entering the water you'll feel your feet sinking an inch or too into mud. That's not a problem for me or mine, definitely not a problem for the dogs... But some people may find it displeasing.

So, if you want a chill place to bring your dog for a swim, definitely try this place out. The only reason I'm giving this 3 instead of 5 is the fishing people, who are...

This is a wonderful place for Dogs and their Humans. I want to stress how important it is for the Humans to clean up after their Dog This part of the Intercoastal Waterway is a shallower cove-like area. There are alot of sightings of Dolphins and Manatees during breeding season. The Parents bring their young there and teach them how to eat and hunt. Dolphins Hunt, Manatees eat near the Mangroves. Not cleaning up after your dogs allows the fecal contaminant to pollute the water during high tide and makes them vulnerable to diseases and can cause death. Please be a responsible owner and do your part to keep the waters clean. Thank you for doing your...

I like this place cause there's a lot of parking and there's plenty of shells not the really good ones but some really interesting oyster clusters. I have a Saint Bernard that really doesn't like water very much but there are no waves here so she is happy to Wade in and since she has so many allergies the salt water is good for her. I was a little concerned about the oil in the water from the boats but it really doesn't seem to be a problem. Not the most beautiful beach but definitely a good place to bring your dog don't forget your leash it is...

Half the beach was good for my dog. The other half was kind of a mess. No garbage or unpicked up dog droppings, but just very unmaintained, muddy, and not somewhere I wanted my dog going. There is only one spot to get down to the beach from the sea wall and it was half eroded. Ended up jumping down and then picking my dog up to get him down. Still worth giving your dog the beach vacation they deserve!

Loved this little hidden gem. Open areas & secluded areas. I liked the secluded area I had with just me & my dog. He's not the social butterfly so for us it was perfect. I read all the reviews & chose this dog friendly beach & it was the closest for us anyway. Clean, $2.00 (maybe $3.00) parking for a whole 24 hrs, & nice views. No complaints here. We'll be back again for sure.
