**Update 5/25/19 - I hate coming back on here to leave a less favorable review because I really do love the food at Seaweed....but the service has tanked. I’ve had four straight disappointments with the restaurant now. They have messed up my take out orders both times in the last couple months.
On my last two dine-in visits…the service has just been flat out horrible. Last night we stopped in with some friends and we were ready for a good dinner. Our waiter came in with a real flamboyant style, which is fine if you’re a great waiter…but the guy was overwhelmed from a busy table that he had and simply couldn’t handle the area he was covering.
We ordered a bottle of sake and he recommended bringing us some ice to keep it chilled…he never did. It took almost an hour to get our dinner by which point everyone at the table was getting hangry... he brought me the same role that I ordered as an appetizer twice and when he brought our sushi...our friends were still waiting for their dinner. It took another 15 minutes making it awkward for us to eat in front of them...which we didn’t. We asked him for water on a couple of occasions which never came..
Meanwhile both myself and a buddy of mine had both gone to the bathroom at different times where there were no hand towels to dry off, I heard the table next to me complain about the same thing as well. One of our guests had her grilled salmon show up cool...after that long wait...because they were waiting to bring it out with her boyfriends order of grouper. The waiter who disappeared for most of the night showed up at the end thinking he was going to charm us again asking if we wanted any dessert lol...I said give me the check.
On our way out there was another customer complaining after our two hour evening that there were STILL no hand towels in the bathroom. We are going to avoid the place for a while...I left a message for the manager...hopefully Seaweed gets its act together. **
I’ve lived in the Belleair area for 8 yrs now, and have never found a great…even good sushi spot. I was skeptical on my first visit and ready for disappointment…but had a great experience! Finally, after my 5th visit, I’ve decided to leave a well deserved review on the restaurant…this is purely on the sushi part of the menu only.
They don’t have a big sushi menu, but a good mixture to choose from. The first thing that got my attention was how incredibly good the sashimi is…the quality of the fish, the freshness! They have some great rolls as well, and again….you can tell the fish is extremely fresh!
I’ve dined in, sat at the sushi bar, sat at the bar, and ordered take-out….never a bad experience so far. Also love that Robin (the night-time manager) remembers you and stops by each table to see what you think of the dinner.
The restaurant has another menu for people not interested in sushi, and from what I’ve seen around me, the food looks very appealing. Service has been top-notch, same with the atmosphere. I’m officially a regular, and if you’re visiting the beaches…we finally have a great...
Read moreSeaweed in Clearwater, Florida, is a true gem of a restaurant. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that set the tone for a memorable dining experience.
The food at Seaweed is nothing short of exceptional. The freshness of their oysters and the delightful flavors of their sushi were evident from the first bite. We also enjoyed a side of edamame, which was perfectly seasoned and made for a great starter.
What truly stood out to me was the attentive and friendly staff. Our server, Nathan, was not only knowledgeable about the menu but also incredibly perceptive. We ordered a dish that, unfortunately, didn't quite suit our taste after just one bite. Nathan noticed and immediately approached our table to inquire about our experience. He handled the situation with grace and professionalism, taking the dish back without hesitation and recommending a delightful sushi option that we already knew we'd enjoy.
Even more impressive was the manager's response. He came over to our table after we sent the food back, displaying exceptional professionalism and concern for our experience. This level of attention and care from both the server and the manager truly made our visit special.
To cap off the evening, we indulged in a delectable flourless cake for dessert. Its rich, decadent flavors provided the perfect ending to an already fantastic meal.
Nathan's and the manager's exceptional service, combined with the exquisite dishes and that memorable flourless cake, were indicative of the restaurant's commitment to ensuring a wonderful dining experience. Whether you're a seafood enthusiast or simply looking for an exceptional dining experience in Clearwater, Seaweed should be at the top of your list. It's a culinary destination that combines fresh, flavorful dishes with outstanding service. I can't wait to return and explore more...
Read moreHello. The wife and I went for out for our anniversary, we wanted something a little nice but nothing uptight, we chose here. They have a little of everything, again we wanted something a little nice but chill. In short it was alright, for the prices I’d expect a little more, in quantity and or not necessarily quality of food but preparation. Things just seemed to miss the mark of expectation.
Food: We ordered a few rolls, octopus, filet sliders, stuffed mahi and yakisoba with salmon. The rolls were in my opinion lack luster, my wife had no problem with them. Though for me, the price we paid I expected something a tad more in their delivery, but what we got, in my opinion was something you’d get at an AYCE. The octopus was tender and well prepared but the quantity was more of a bar bite, barely an appetizer especially for the price. Sliders were just ok as well as the mahi. The yakisoba was alright, in line with hibachi quality.
Atmosphere: Very nice ambiance, romantic, slightly classy, yet chill.
Service: Great, yet I did notice some of their staff with ear phones in their ear. It didn’t impede in their service but in regards to professionalism, in my opinion it shouldn’t be a thing for the front staff. Our rolls took a while, we ordered 2. The server did update us like 30 minutes in saying the sushi bar was behind, which was thoughtful. But there were plenty of empty seats in the house, so 40 min or so for our rolls was kind of a let down.
Price: Not too bad considering the area, but as I stated above, I expected a bit more in quantity and or quality of delivery.
I’d go back if someone invited me, but it wouldn’t be my first choice if it...
