Hong Kong Massage Center — Attraction in Bellevue

Pros: Got a great, deep tissue massage! The lady was very kind. I had every intention of returning, but....

Cons: While I was signing my receipt, the lady actually leaned over into my view to see how much I was writing for a tip. She said, 'Only 5 dollar tip? You give more!' I wasn't so much offended by this as I was disappointed. Made me feel like the whole experience had only been about the tip for her at the end. I knew I couldn't come back now. I would always feel uncomfortable knowing that my charity would be scrutinized after every session, and that any friendliness exhibited was only building up to an expectation of a bigger tip.

Genuinely saddened by that because I really wanted to be appreciative and become a regular customer.

EDIT In response to the comment made by the owner: I'm sure tips are important to the masseuse. And yet that is not a reason to actively pressure a customer into providing a larger tip. I will give extra when I want to give extra. If a particular tip percentage is expected, that should be made clear initially or included in the price to begin with. Pressure to tip a certain amount makes customers feel uncomfortable and should be done away with. What if I didn't feel this masseuse deserved a higher tip? That wouldn't have stopped her from demanding more. You cannot demand charity. Do not...

This place used to be very good. I have been going here for at least 3 years. They had great masseuses, and the place was clean and well managed. None of the good masseuses are there anymore. I don't know if the namamgement has changed. I got massage from 3 different therapists in the last couple of months, all of whom were mediocre at best. The last time I was there, the massage was not good at all, no particular techniques. She just gave me a body rub instead of deep tissue despite me asking for it multiple times during the session. Then, at the time of payment, I decided to give her only 10% tip instead of the usual 30% for a good masaage. The masseuse started literally screaming at me and angrily demanding more tip. When I told her honestly that the massage was not good, she got angrier and continued screaming louder. At which point, I got back that 10% tip from her. I will never go back...

Oh boy - I’ve had a lot of massages in different cities, most are pretty much the same. Every now and then, I’ll find a real gem, but in this case, holy smokes was it LOUSY. It was uninformed, no flow, all pointy elbows. Adding to the rough experience, I asked specifically to target my lower back and legs, and she just went thru the standard routine.

I was heading to the airport for a long flight and read about the body scrub on their website. Figured that would be a nice send off.

Mentioned it at the beginning, and asked about it at the end, and the gal had NO idea what I was talking about, even though it is pictured / advertised on their website (under Updates).

After paying my bill, pointed to their website, owner / boss said “next time”.
