I have been to Simply Indian multiple times with my friends and keep going back to it because the food feels homemade and simple, one of the very few satisfactory indian restaurants in the area.
The service is pretty decent and the ambiance is welcoming most of the time. The staff is easy to communicate with.
Here are some things that I ordered from my multiple visits to the restaurant and my honest review for each:
Mysore Bonda : Refried, Too Oily, Doughy and uncooked from Inside Sambar Vada : Simple yet comforting and flavorful ; Just like homemade Idli Vada combo : Idli wasn’t fresh and too firm to eat, the Vada waa fresh and crispy though. Punugulu : Deep fried, crispy, fluffy and delicious P.S: The chutneys given with all the snacks are very small amount for the given snack and are not thick enough. We usually end up asking for extra chutney all the time. Rice and Roti Thali : I have tried both Veg and Non-Veg thalis. They were spot on and bang for your buck. All the curries were fresh and...
Read more3 stars for me because apparently I'm an absolute spice wimp, 4 for the official rating. And take that with a grain of salt.
There are four curries available: two meat, and two veg. I ordered a Thali plate with curry, and my husband ordered the chicken curry with rice, plus a few Samosas on the side. I wanted a mix of meat and veg curries, and was fine with paying the meat-curry price since it was just $1 more.
The samosas were large, hot, and tasty. I loved the mint and tamarind sauces that came on the side. We found the chicken curry quite spicy (Indian spice takes some getting used to, and yes - I'm a wimp.) The fried okra was delicious.
Pros: portions are LARGE, and the woman taking orders might be the friendliest order-taker I've seen in a LONG time.
Cons: Something happened with our order...people that ordered after us received their food, and left, with no sign of our dinners. I ended up going back up to the front and asking about it, and our food came out within moments (one bowl at...
Read moreTheir UberEats photos sizes are severely misleading which is a shame given how their quality is decent when visiting in person. If you look at the photos of people saying they ordered a Family size and then the order you get when you order Jumbo on UberEats that shows a FAMILY SIZE tray, you realize you've been lied to and that sucks.
If you order the Chicken Biryani 65 online and get the largest size (Jumbo), it's $32 and shows the image of a tin serving platter; Well what you actually end up getting is a slightly longer than usual plastic to-go box which is certainly not nearly the same amount as the tin serving platter.
That's kind of messed up given not only is it $8 more on UberEats to get the jumbo than when ordering in-person, you also have to pay delivery fees, tips and etc which easily make it over $40 (which is a FAMILY size in-person).
The Chicken Biryani was also INCREDIBLY salty when I received it this time, feels like...
