Front desk person Kenzie and Asst Manager Kyle are the least professional folks I've had to deal with while simply trying to join a gym. Gave us the run around to keep coming back with more info from our corporate gym membership and even once we gave them everything they asked for, they said they couldn't help us and we'd need to come back a 4th time. Apparently, if you dare ask to speak to a manager or someone in customer support to figure out the issue rather than running back and forth a dozen times, you'll be told "no one is paid to solve issues on the weekend" and that you'll need to come back again when a manager is there. This wouldn't be so obnoxious except the asst manager, Kyle, WAS there but decided to leave early to "deal with his other job" while we were in the midst of sitting there getting the info compiled for him. He literally walked right by me and didn't say a word that he was leaving and that I would need to come back AGAIN. There was a very nice employee at the desk with no name tag on who was trying to get my contact info to give to her manager so we wouldn't have to drive back a million times, but Kenzie decided her unprofessional attitude and nasty tone was more important than solving the issue. Very sad that Kenzie couldn't take a note from her coworker that speaking kindly and patiently to people goes a lot further than being rude. Signing up for PF Black was a piece of cake but downgrading was almost impossible due to NON-STANDARD PROCEDURES. I came to the conclusion that I needed to cancel my membership.
I've actively been trying to downgrade my membership for 2 months, and I was trickle-fed reasons why they will not in 3 separate gym visits. Note that if you cancel and return as a standard member, you will have to pay another startup and annual fee.
Extremely restrictive policy to downgrade:
There is no wait list for you to put your name down either.
The frustration going through this process is unfair to both the customers and PF staff who have to deal with upset customers when the manager isn't around. OLD I travel extensively around the USA for work and go to many Planet Fitness locations. I have been coming to this location since it opened. It is the cleanest Planet Fitness I have been to. The staff at most Planet Fitness locations are just standing around talking to each other or staring into space not present. NOT AT THIS LOCATION. They are working, attentive, friendly, and engaged. When it first opened I had a run-in with the assistant manager who was a very toxic and controlling presence. After communicating the issue to the manager Amanda, she let me know that I was not the only one to complain about him. Due to the feedback, she was able to make swift changes and improve the situation.
