Royal Nails Lounge — Attraction in Bellingham

I Have been going to Royal nails for about a year now. I am a very regular customer every three weeks. I am on time. I don’t complain. I’m low maintenance and I tip well. Often times I will get pedicures afterwards - usually without an appt, but they always fit me in. Two appointments ago my appt was not scheduled at my regular time. It was an hour earlier and I missed it. This was the first time I ever missed and I’ve never rescheduled. I called right away to reschedule. The owner answered, he was rude, rescheduled me and hung up on me. .

Lately it seems like my Nail technician is always saddled with answering the phones every time I come in. Her service seems a lot more hurried since she’s been doing this and she isn’t as friendly. Understandable when so much is expected from her. I also know she works seven days a week. But my appointments when she’s answering the phones are getting longer and longer. Usually, her appointment lasts exactly an hour. I really liked that. One of my appointments was during my workday and it ended up being a very long (too long) break from work.

Yesterday during my appt the phones kept ringing (nonstop at one point). I finally asked my technician how often she is required to answer the phones. I was evaluating if this was going to be a regular thing because I can’t continue to come in with this kind of service. Her answer was very snotty “every time it rings?” I explained that’s not what I meant. I was trying to determine if my regular appointments on Saturday we’re going to be interrupted with phone calls, which is a very busy day and whether I needed to figure out a different time/day to come in. Once again, her reply was very snotty saying they don’t have any receptionist that is trained well enough to answer the phones. No apologies for the distraction, just irritation and defensiveness. I’ve noticed more turnover with the receptionist position. But it is chronic now with my technician answering phones during my appointment. It’s been many appointments.

When I walked in yesterday I asked if I could get a pedicure after my appointment. There were tons of walk-ins during my appointment for pedicures, including a few right before my nail appointment ended. But by the time my appointment was over, the pedicures were full. I believe they could have held a chair for me for a few minutes.

I am not a person to do bad reviews. However, as a regular customer, I don’t feel treated nor valued like one and I’m going to move on to another salon that values their regular customers....

Lee gave me one of the best pedicures I've ever had! She was extremely thorough with callous removal and cuticle trimming. She checked in with me often to make sure things were exactly how I wanted them (nail shape/length, gel polish color, etc). She was kind and I felt comfortable with her right away. I never felt pressure to talk, and was able to relax during the whole experience.

The nail salon is really clean and beautiful. Everything from the pedicure chairs, manicure stations, waiting area and even a nice bar area -- are clean, modern and have substantial quality. The services are done in a sanitary manner - pedicure bowl liners, and fresh nail files opened in front of each client, and visible barbicide disinfecting containers.

I've been to Royal Nail Lounge twice now. My first pedicure was disappointing (not thorough or attentive, poor polish application, felt rushed) and I was hesitant to come back. I'm so glad I came back and had Lee as my nail technician! This shows that even when a salon is beautiful and clean, it's extremely important to find the right nail technician.

I will say that the demeanor of the employees varies. Some are genuinely friendly, while others don't seem happy or eager to help. This combined with my initial pedicure experience is why I can't give a full five stars. However, Lee definitely was a...

I have been seeing Cindy for about 13 years since she was at Silver Nails. I followed her to Happy Nails, and now to Royal Nails. Every single visit I have such an exceptional experience! She spends just the right amount of time perfecting her polish and does the best massages! Years ago I only did the pink and white french tip powder nails and for years Cindy has been able to recreate them for me on my natural nails with gel polish. She also continuously changes my water to be warm during a pedicure, very safely and effectively trims my ingrown toenails out of my big toes, and does the longest most relaxing leg and foot massages.
