This is a great multi-use complex. It has two baseball fields that can be scheduled for use with Bellingham Parks & Rec. There is an open cement basketball court with limited bench area for resting/viewing. It has a dedicated dog park as well as walking trails & a couple of large maintained topographical fields perfect for walking/jogging/running etc. There are grassy areas too that would make a great place for a picnic or other family outing or would easily lend itself to a pickup game of the likes of football, soccer or Frisbee not to mention being ideal for kite flying in breezy weather. If this weren't enough to make it an all around family friendly zone there is a "million smiles" style playground that even includes a zip line that seems to easily handle weights up to 200lbs (from what I've witnessed) as well as a mini skate board area perfect for that young beginning boarder. And still, Adjacent to the playground is a Pavillion large enough to handle almost any family that would like to have a meal while enjoying watching there young ones play, or for hosting a decent sized get together or family reunion. (Although for larger audiences it might be best to reserve the pavilion ahead of time, again, through Bellingham Parks & Rec.) There are public drinking fountains attached to the stand alone brick structure which is centrally located & houses the restrooms. In fact The only thing that may feel slightly lacking is the bathrooms of which there are only 3 which may not be adequate to fully accommodate a larger crowd on a full mixed use day. Two are located in the dedicated central location brick building & the third is located next to the basketball court / dedicated dog park. There is no hot water, but there is soap for washing up and baby changing stations in both of the unisex bathrooms. The bathrooms have always been clean when I have been there and show regular attending to. The situation is no where near dire enough to reduce the review by even half a star & so a full star review is still ok here. Parking is usually ample for the size & features 8 easy access dedicated handicapped parking stalls and the park is definitely ADA compliant. There is also overflow parking that is made available if the park is scheduled for heavy use. I hope this review has been helpful to...
Read moreThe park has a great variety for the entire family. There is plenty of parking which is convenient, because of the benches. There are enough tabletop benches to have a large family or corporate gathering. This particular area is close enough to the playground to keep an eye on the children. There is a sink available with some power outlets for music entertainment. The bathrooms are nearby and fairly close to the playground and picnic area. However, it will be a long trip around both areas to reach by wheelchair. There is a triple grill behind the sink area. Overall, this area is great for a barbecue. The playground has two areas for younger or older children. It is beautifully decorated as an enchanted forest with human and owl faces decorating the large play are next to this play area is a zip line which looks extremely fun, and I'm finding myself regretting not using it myself. Further into the park is a single tabletop bench next to a basketball court, which has lighting late into the night. Beside the basketball court is probably the largest use for this park in particular, at least in the fall/winter seasons. This is a dog park that has plenty of seating for humans. If you're socializing a new puppy, there are plenty of people and canine friends waiting to be made throughout the day and evenings. Further along the path, there are some baseball fields and "dugout" areas. Finally, the entire park has a handful of trails that are maintained in great condition and is a great place for the light jogger. If you like running on stairs, there is a bit of that as well. This is a park that had variety for every member of the family, and you should definitely come check it out if you're in the...
Read moreI go to this place, probably three times a week. I go there at night because I have a dog that is not really friendly with other dogs so I take her to the dog park and it’s the only place that she can run free. The dog park is fairly large. However, with the way that the dog park it set up, if it rains, it becomes an absolute Mudbog. And because I go there at night with my dog before 10 PM when the park closes, I really wish that if there were a few more lights so that the dog park actually was semi-lit up. It’s actually kind of scary out there with how dark it is and kind of can be creepy sometimes. It is a huge area with the park included and the Plainfield‘s but the light situation is someone lacking. Since you’re in the middle of nowhere it gets to be kind of scary sometimes. that would be my only complaint other than that loves park without our lives play area, which has an amazingly large area for smaller children three years and below. Really good women. And there’s indoor restaurants side...
