Caution: Belmont Medical Supply has a 25% re-stocking fee. Meaning, if you purchase anything and don't use it and return it the next day, they take 25% before your refund. I understand that some items are not easy to re-sell, but ours were brand new in the package and a nominal re-stocking fee (like 10%) is logical, but they seem a bit predatory with this 25% fee. We found this completely unfair.
Also, be advised that the majority of their products can be found around 50-75% cheaper online (like Amazon). I feel that they are taking advantage of the need of patients and their caregivers by charging way above the MSRP. Of course I'd do anything to keep my mother pain-free..so why question their prices? Well, you should. They may be helpful with your needs, but their prices are insanely high. Paying Amazon's next-day service is much cheaper than going to Belmont Medical Supply.
Do your homework and search for other stores too, like Bruce Medical Supply in Waltham, MA.
Good luck!
ADDENDUM: While you did mention there would be a re-stocking fee when we purchased the items, you negated to mention the amount. It's shocking to hear that 25% of the already inflamed price will not be refunded. It's a bit disrespectful to your clients to not disclose this fee or at least post it in your store. We would have purchased less items. Also, there was no indication that these were "special order" items. In fact, why would they be in stock in your store? We never "special ordered" anything. We walked in and asked for the items and you had them in stock. When we decided that we couldn't use them because my mother was too sick, we returned the next day. You systematically stated there was a 25% re-stocking fee on all of the products, without a mention that they were special orders. I also find it hard to believe that every single one of your vendors is charging you 25% for re-stocking. It's obvious you're just re-stocking the item on your shelf and pocketing the 25%. You're able to prey on customers that have legitimate medical needs because they are desperate to comfort their loved ones. My intention was to warn customers of your exorbitant prices and unfair...
Read moreI think it is important to support small businesses. I knew that Belmont Medical Supply has been in business a very long time and thought that it would be a good place to look for my medical supply needs for my upcoming hip replacement operation. I learned that it has been a family business since 1936. First starting out as a pharmacy and then adding medical supplies to its business in the mid-50’s and then at some point just concentrating on medical supplies. That is about 75 years of medical supply knowledge, and you can’t get that on the internet! I initially was helped by the owner Bob Rosen, and he listened attentively to my concerns, answered all my questions, and then made thoughtful suggestions. My needs were concentrated on gadgets and things that would come in handy and make me more comfortable after surgery. Bob’s wealth of information and patience was very much appreciated. He focused on my medical needs and did not try to upsell me, only suggesting what he thought would be very useful to me. And Bob was right! I had a wonderful first experience at Belmont Medical Supply. It was very much worth the investment in time to go there because what they know isn’t something you can readily learn online and the personal help I got was priceless! In short, I was very happy with my experience and recommend Belmont Medical Supply highly and without...
Read moreI've been a frequent customer of Belmont Medical Supply for over 20 years. My mother lived to the age of 99 and I bought many items for her, including two rollators in two different years. For those, I priced them online before going to the store where I found Belmont Medical's prices were the same or better. Plus, I got to personally test their large rollator assortment to assess which would be easiest for my mother to operate. Right up until she passed this year, Mom referred to her burgundy-color 4-wheel rollator as "my Cadillac". I was back to buy a wheelchair, not to mention crutches, canes (for me), compression socks, bed pan, etc. etc. The staff is supremely helpful and knowledgeable--always. They steered me in the right direction when I was trying to choose among their various blood pressure cuffs. The store is packed with items, but don't hesitate to ask for options. When I was looking at a display toilet seat stand with arm supports which help a handicapped person sit and stand up, I mentioned the relative was a large man and they asked me to wait while they brought a heavy-duty stand upstairs for me to see which turned out to be the perfect option. During covid-19 they have been well stocked with masks, gloves, sanitizer, cleaners etc. so I'm visiting...
