Contra Costa Rock Park — Attraction in Berkeley

Great view! The walk up to the top of the rock is short, maybe 20-30 steps. I felt like a kid again ducking under the tree to get to the top lol.

I wouldn't recommend this place if you have trouble walking on uneven or gravel surfaces.

During the pandemic, this is one of the few rock parks in Berkeley that has been open, so we’ve walked over here a lot. There’s an easy climb on the south side, or you can hike up one of two sets of carved stairs. A bonus now is that the makers of Ocho chocolate are giving away chocolate bars on their porch...

This is a gem of a small park. Great for a quick outing. The giant rock is great for casual climbing. The grassy area in back could use some love. I think it needs a bench or a picnic table. We've gone back several times since discovering it.
