This Berkeley-based bakery ventured all the way to Saratoga to create a wedding cake that exceeded our wildest expectations. Every bite was an absolute delight, and it's safe to say that they have secured a place in our hearts forever.

From the moment we contacted the bakery, their customer service was exceptional. They were more than willing to accommodate our request for a cake delivery to Saratoga, which isn't exactly a short distance. This willingness to go above and beyond to make our special day even more special was a promising start.

Even with a tremendously busy thanksgiving wednesday Lavendar Bakery did a stellar service. They stepped up to the plate with thee most outstanding service. My order had been mixed up a bit. Not only did they correct it, but delivered it to my door! And added extra items ! And made sure the special bread I ordered was not only delivered but freshly baked! Delicious cookies. Buttery croissants. Baguette perfect. And their special olive crispy crusted bread to perfection. Each of my guests and family members raved about the service and quality. Beautiful service. “This review - in addition to having some of the most amazing baked goods - is truly about the service received on Thanksgiving morning. We had placed an order the week before to be picked up that morning.. and when I arrived to pick it up, there was some confusion and our order wasn’t prepared for us. Now keep in mind, it’s complete chaos with the place being full of people trying to pick up orders and buy whatever is still available at the shop. They could have easily said, sorry, we just can’t help you and turned us away with a refund. However, the owner himself took time to let me know that they would start the ovens up and bake it all within the next couple of hours and deliver it to our house. THIS was just exceptional, above and beyond service and earned our repeat future business for as long as their doors remain open! Completely impressed!! When in need for incredibly great breads, baked goods and deserts - This family run operation definitely deserves...

This review is about the interactions I had with staff for a custom cake order. I will review the cake separately since I have not had it yet. I was given an initial quote over email for a custom round 10” cake for $145 and an additional $30 for minimal floral icing decoration. I called to confirm the order. The person who helped me was so kind and friendly! She told me due to the minimalism of the design they could do the cake for $145 only. This sold me on confirming the order and I completed my payment over the phone… Well the next day I get another call from someone else. They threw their coworker under the bus saying “she didn’t do a good job” with my order and that they will need to charge me an additional $30 after all. She also asked me to say the time I spoke to the first employee so they could identify the person who made the mistake. Two things:

1. Don’t make me help narc on the nice employee who initially helped me. That’s something you should handle internally. It’s on the business to train people consistently. The rep said “the manager is putting it on us” and as the customer, helping you resolve a miscommunication among your staff is not my responsibility.

2. Calling back to charge me an additional $30 after I received a confirmed price which helped me decide to confirm my order and after I submitted the payment is SO UNPROFESSIONAL. That was the business’s fault and in my opinion they should eat the cost. All around super sloppy way to conduct business.
