Please read everyone. I google mapped this place because I was already out in Berkeley and got hungry and wanted something organic to eat. first off I called the place before I went to ask if there food was really organic. the guy told me yes. But once I got there and ordered my food and sat down and ate, I noticed that my stomach started to hurt, as it always does when I eat anything that is unorganic. I've been to plenty of organic places to know the difference. I only eat organic and cook organic and put on my body organic ingredients. Therefore, I know the difference. Also I noticed that the items displayed are mostly unorganic. There was only one drink that I bought that was organic and maybe water, which could have been tap. I don't believe this place knows what organic is and if so then they should really get off the market, and need to be reported. They are lying to people. just thought I would put my input because I was was very frustrated to figure this out. Even though the food was unorganic I still bought a second plate just to be sure, I just ate 5 minutes before this. My stomach started to hurt again and is still alittle query. The only thing that stopped my stomach from hurting was drinking an organic beverage afterwards. not only did it as soon as I started drinking it rejuvenate me but it made my stomach feel better. It started to cleanse my mouth while drinking it, it tasted so pure. I will not ever be eating there again. the food was delicious and I tried to force myself to eat the rest but I felt sick and almost vomited. I'm not one of those people who like to criticize places just based on first impressions but I feel very strong and compassionate about organic living in life styles and would hate for people to be lied to and know anything but the truth. Thank...
Read moreWe live in this neighborhood and if you know the North Shattuck and Northbrae Neighborhoods, there is no shortage of walkable dining. We just love Jerusalem Organic Kitchen for a consistently well prepared meal, friendly staff, and really good ingredients! They serve a quick, casual, healthy, and absolutely delicious meal. Everything we have tried is great with balanced seasonings. My personal favorite is the Shawarma Platter. Don't miss the perfectly prepared salmon platter with a generous serving of salmon that won't set you back an arm and a leg. The salad with chicken shawarma on top is great too. And they, of course, prepare a great middle eastern platter and falafel platter. And if all you want is a sandwich or burger - you won't be disappointed. Get the idea? We like their food and for good reason - they don't try to be all things to all people - they do middle eastern cuisine and do it really well. Try it -...
Read moreI have been going to Jerusalem Organic Kitchen for years and the place is really good. It is not your typical falafel place and well worth a visit, but be prepared for something a little different. I particularly recommend the lamb sandwiches or plates and all the salads. The kids loved the burgers when they were little, so I could bring them there and indulge my need for spicy goodness. They are now teenagers and we still all enjoy the food and eat there regularly. The place is run by some great folks and it is definitely kid friendly.
Check out Solano Ave while you are there, it is one of the lesser known gems of Berkeley.
I am writing this after all these years, in part at least, in response the “my stomach hurts” review. You have got to be kidding: the place is not organic because your stomach hurts if you eat anything that is not organic? Well, my head hurts when I hear unscientific nonsense from...
