Haven't been to Colony Meadery since they left the Moravian Bookshop, but glad that we stopped into the 3rd St location the other day. After a few years of not having their mead, we were thrilled that it was still superb. Sweet and smooth, their mead is an oasis on a summer day. Appreciate their consistency as it is something most businesses lack these days. Nice mellow atmosphere inside the location, and the bartender was very friendly (and a John Carpenter fan to boot). My partner and I drove up from Philly to try out some meads and we were not disappointed. We ordered 3 flights which allowed us to sample a large variety , and each mead had a distinct flavour profile. The "Favorite Child" was my favorite, with its smoky and spicy notes winning me over to take a bottle home. The owner Mike was awesome, and was more than happy to talk about his mead making process and the business. My partner and I will be back surely.
