After hearing about u & tea from my Lehigh University grad boyfriend for 6 the last years…. We finally went together last night. What a great spot! And cute town. But not only was the food as incredible as my boyfriend has told me repeatedly (and all his fraternity brothers) but the service was just outstanding. I can’t say enough about our waitress whose name I did not get but she was so nice and really knew what she was doing. Knew the products well and was able to give me two outstanding recommendations. Griffin got his usual since 2013: sausage Fried Rice and a bowl of chicken dumpling soup. I got a plate of the Beef Ho Fun (totally new dish for me) and a TARO BOBA TEA 🧋 such a treat. I saw another customer with one and was like wait they have boba…?!!!! Must try. Waitress suggested I try taro and I was like awesome because I was leaning that way anyway. It was delicious - griffin couldn’t stop yelling about how good it was. We get boba in philly at home at our favorite spot and U and ‘Tea boba has to be the ONLY place we’ve tried that is up to our standards. So delicious…. Get one if nothing else and you’re just walking by. Was ready in minutes. Our entrees were also ready within 5 minutes of ordering and tasted SO DAMN GOOD. I was blown away. And the portion sizes were massive and was only $11.95 for mine. What a steal. It happened to be an employees birthday and they had their own little dinner and cake with singing (it was late maybe 9pm) and afterwards brought us slices of their cake ! So sweet. It was really yummy too , thank you 😊 she packed up the food for us even tho she didn’t have to while asking me about where we are from and stuff then made sure to let me know to heat up my leftovers in a on not the microwave. So kind. I really loved our experience and am excited to return next time we’re back at Lehigh for whatever...
Read moreEvery bite makes you say OMG. I’ve been living in the Lehigh Valley for 3+ years now and this restaurant has not failed to impress me time and time again.
I have an absolute soft spot for Asian food. This restaurant is easily one of my faves, if not my absolute fave. The best Chinese restaurant in the Lehigh Valley imo. And absolutely authentic and legit.
My top faves are: Ma La Dry Hot Pot Eggplant and tofu (so garlicky!) Stir fried potatoes (garlicky as well, with some extra fragrance from the gentle touch of chili peppers they toss in there) String beans (my toddler’s favorite) Ja Jiang Mian (black bean noodles, also toddler’s favorite) Beef skewers Squid skewers (so the seasoning hits!) White rice (some of the fluffiest soft but NOT mushy rice, my whole Chinese family praises their white rice)
Their drinks are pretty damn good, too. My favorite is the rose lemonade with no added sugar (sweet, slightly sour, mild rosie fragrance, just lovely).
Also, no idea how their chef cooks so quickly but U&tea has some of the quickest cook times I have ever seen and the food still comes out pretty good! Chef knows what they’re doing!!
My only regret is not living close enough for delivery… makes each trip there...
Read moreOn a busy Saturday night the service was poor, some of the wait staff was very unfamiliar with the menu and not helpful at all. The restaurant was packed, mostly with Asian students from Lehigh University.
The food was amazing, not your typical oily Chinese food found in strip malls around the area. The appetizers were good, the warm buns were just warm bread, with a delicious sweet dipping sauce, the dumplings were okay, the chicken dumpling soup was delicious, and the squid skewer was very good, one skewer per order.
For the entrees we got something from the special menu not written in English, a squid stir fry that was spicy and full of large chunks of garlic. The squid was done properly and it was extremely tasty. We got two clay pot casseroles, the Eggplant & Tofu and the Eggplant & Vegetable Casseroles. Both were amazing, the tofu was better of the two, the vegetable one had many different unfamiliar ingredients that were very good. The final dish ordered was the Basil Chicken Stir Fry, a very familiar type of dish but tasted fresh.
The price for a meal for four was less than $70 and there was enough for leftovers. This place...
