We checked in around 2:00pm on a Friday and left at check out at 10:00am on Sunday the weekend after Thanksgiving. The cabin location was fantastic. It was on the South side of the lake across from the observatory and just left of Gibralter Point. There were no cabins between us and the water, so it was like our own little personal bay where we could get out and enjoy the weather and take the dog for a walk. The neighbors were nice and the area was quiet. The cabin fit the 4 of us fine - 2 adults sharing a bed and one bed each for the 14 year old and 8 year old. Each room had two beds (1 queen and 3 Fulls)and each room had an attached full bath. Hot water was quick to turn on, but the kitchen faucet was hooked up backwards, so we thought the sink wasn't generating any hot water until we tried the cold side. No big deal. The only reason we didn't give 5 stars was for 2 reasons. The first was the heater in the room to the left of the front door when you walk in would make a loud bang each time the heat kicked on. We only noticed it after we got back on the first night and turned it on before bed. It got down to 30 degrees and we kept the heaters on around 65. Every hour or so, it sounded like a gun shot which would wake us up. We didn't get a lot of sleep the first night, since we didn't turn it off as we weren't sure how cold it would get. It turned out that the blankets were enough so we didn't use the heater on the second night then let the fire go and turned up the heater in the front room a little. The other issue was the bathroom sink in the same room was easy to clog and would take a couple of hours to drain. Since the sinks are so small, you could only run the water for short bursts which was a little annoying. Had to be careful when using it, or it would over flow. Aside from these 2 issues, everything from the check in process to the check out process was smooth and the people were friendly. As stated earlier, the location was great and access to the village and down town was easy and not too far, although it was an extra busy weekend due to the opening of Christmas season and the tree lighting ceremony. Traffic was a major issue with cars backed up all down Big Bear Blvd, but that's not Big Bear Vacations fault. Overall it was a pleasant experience and we would definitely do it again. P.S. Although it isn't reflected in the review, it should be pointed out that the free WiFi was really slow and unreliable. Speed tests showed it was between 600Mbit/s - 1MB/s and the connection dropped a few times. Since the area had good 4G reception though, we just used that to check emails and things. While we're at it, the TV picture was pretty bad too. We didn't go to Big Bear for the free WiFi and basic cable though, so it really wasn't a big deal. Just thought it should be pointed out in case some one has a limited data plan and uses their phone a lot. Kevin Your review will be posted publicly on the web. Learn more

From booking our stay back in November to checkout yesterday, everything about this trip was top notch. We were running a little late on our arrival date, but we called ahead and the staff was very gracious to stay a little later to take care of our check in. The welcome gift of a little combo spice jar was a nice surprise and went to good use as my daughter made some amazing meals in the beautiful kitchen at Majestic Sky Retreat. Everything about this home is like brand new. Super clean, very nice furnishings, appliances, finishes and surfaces, and kitchen utensils. The astronomical theme carried throughout the place brought smiles to all of us. The Murphy bed, unlike every sofa sleeper I've ever had the misfortune to spend the night on, was SUPER comfortable. The remote controlled fireplaces (2) were beautiful, convenient, and really provided extra warmth and ambiance. My wife is asthmatic and loves a fire, but struggles with the wood smoke...no problem! Games, games, and more games! The shuffleboard table was a ton of fun. Hot tub a very welcome amenity after a day on the slopes. GREAT LOCATION. My son is confined to a wheelchair and we come up to take him to US Adaptive Recreation Center at Bear Mountain (Amazing organization and volunteers!). Having to only navigate the few steps leading up to the front door and then having the single level, open floor plan really made the space ideal for us. Our dog Copper really appreciated that she was welcome and loved the little back yard and long walks around the neighborhood. One member of our family doesn't have his own gear, so imagine our surprise of a free snowboard rental from Goldsmith's!!😄 Thank you! Goldsmith's made it super easy, no hassle at all. This unexpected gesture helped carve a little cost out of an admittedly rather pricey vacation. Big Bear Vacations and Majestic Sky Retreat made this trip worth every penny!

Please be aware that although your cabin may be entirely filthy, no one will go clean it, and although you decide to stay somewhere else they will avoid your calls and emails asking for a refund. UPDATE This entire incident started on saturday, where we were allowed check in at 2 pm, the home was dirty as seen in the pictures below, I called many times, I was told they would send over a cleaning team, and then later got a call that the cleaning team would not be able to make it. Stressed I called again, and was told the ONLY other option would be to switch cabins. A cabin that was 20 minuites away from the original location we wanted. Due to the lack of options, we accepted, after arriving to the second cabin, it is inaccessible. The driveway was entirely covered in snow. And considering it was a single street going both ways, and there was no near parking, we called again. This occured around 5 (keep in mind we checked in at 2), on the phone they said they would send someone right over. Since there was no one where to park, we headed back towards the main part of big bear to get food. At 7 we drove back, and still nothing had been done. Keep in mind we never even entered the cabin, so we don't even know if that one was clean. At this point I tried calling multiple times, and no one was answering. When someone finally answered, I asked for an estimated time of when it would be done. The lady said an hour. I asked if it would be done in a hour, or would they be there in a hour, she said she didn't know. At about 9pm was our last straw, nothing had been done and we had been driving around aimlessly for hours, so we requested a refund and they said it needed to be reviewed. It is now Tuesday and my calls are being avoided, because the manager seems to always be busy, and refuses to take my calls. The reservation name is under Gloria Osuna, may I also add that yes these are photos that from one of your cabins, you may even want to speak to Louie, as I sent him the photos as soon as we arrived.

DO NOT RECOMMEND! DO NOT RENT FROM BIG BEAR VACATIONS My family and I recently stayed at your Minton Pearl home from January 2, 2024 to January 5, 2024. We had several issues with the home while we were there. First off, the home was not clean. Not to hospitality standards. We found hair all over the home, especially in the bathrooms around the door and tub areas. There was dirt build up from years of non cleaning in the door tracks for the sliding glass door. There was food and dirt under the couches in the living room. All of the mantles had a layer of dust as well. Second, the grill has not been cleaned since it was new from what I can tell. I had to hand wash the grates in order to be able to cook our family dinner - cooking on grates that have not been cleaned property can produce food borne illnesses. The cooking utensils, pots and pans, and various dishes also had to be cleaned before use. Lastly, not all appliances were working as described. The fireplace was not operable and we had to have maintenance come in the next day to get it lit. Also, the water heater did not consistently provide hot water. At best we could take one hot shower for the entire family per day. The rest had to suffer through luke warm water. And when the temps were in the 30s this was not fun. We also did not have easy access to the backyard as indicated in the ad, which made it difficult walking on steps with snow and ice to take our dog out. We requested a simple refund of the cleaning fee and one nights rent as we were not comfortable. Big Bear declined to take ownership of this and offered us $150 and 10% off a future vacation. We will not be renting from them again. Please find attached all of the pictures from the condition of the home when we arrived. We did call and report this to their remote staff, and the lady on the phone agreed the home was not up to their standards. DO NOT RENT FROM BIG BEAR VACATIONS.

First of all.. if I could give more than 5 stars if I could . We had the best experience from the time of booking until the day we left! When I originally inquired about the property, Stefanie reached out ensuring the place had a fenced in yard for our 2 Yorkies. The weather had been really questionable with all of the snowfall and we weren’t sure we could make it. But Stefanie kept in contact with me each day before arrival to make sure we could travel up to Big Bear safely. Now….. Let’s discuss this particular cabin. All I can say is WOW!! It definitely exceeded our expectations. First of all, great location close to just about everything. Then the inside was so updated and modern and most importantly clean! We had every amenity we needed. It was quiet and so homie . My pups were comfortable and even had a dog park for them across the street. Unfortunately the one area for the smaller dogs was snowed in but we still enjoyed walking them over to see the bigger dogs play. The bed was comfortable and bedding was warm despite no heat upstairs. Both upstairs and downstairs bathrooms had to wonderful water temperature and comfy towels. The hot tub was a real bonus. Especially in the cold it was nice and relaxing under the stars. But there were no steps or a small ladder to get in so I flopped in and out like a fish lol. But still worth it. We also enjoyed the Amazon music, the security locks and cameras and the TV services. Then you top it all off. If you’re lucky enough you can enjoy a late check out ( if available and with a small additional fee) which we were able to do. It made the day we left much easier and also allowed us to grab one more last minute brunch before we hit the road. I’m planning to come back with my best friend very soon for her birthday and hopefully we can stay here again!!! Loved every minute!

1967 Moonridge Serenade: The hot tub water was green and smelly. One of the reasons we booked this property in the first place was for the hot tub.. We called management and they came to shock the water. It still was green and not swimmable. When called Camilla (I believe) and another member informed me that a $50 a day credit would be given back to our account. Doesn’t quite make up for it not being usable but it was what it was. But then, a “manager” called after we checked out he informed me that would not happen and that only $37 would be credited vs $100 credit (since we stayed two nights). I told him about the conversation I had with two members regarding the refund. He was extremely rude when I explained to him that no I was told $100 credit was to be refunded to us. The whole reason we booked here was because of the hot tub. This should have been checked before we arrived. The dishwasher was broke and not draining, lots of kitchen items missing as well. I’m so disappointed in our stay. The house itself was nice but the cleanliness of everything and management was not up to other standards. The beds were nice, the set up was nice and the location was great otherwise. We are staying at a different cabin now managed by another company and the staff is very helpful and the hot tub is clean. We are staying down the street currently from the old cabin and I have half a mind to go talk to the owner to let him know about the mismanagement of his cabin.
