We always look for family owned restaurants to try. I usually do a search of the area and then I read reviews. I read Grizzly Manor reviews plus they open early on Sunday morning. Other restaurants in the area didn't open until 11:00am. I also asked Jeff at the front desk if he could recommend a good place to have breakfast. Without hesitation he told me Grizzly Manor and gave me directions. Jeff also said you will see people outside waiting.
We drove there and sure enough people were waiting outside. I went in wrote down our name and the waitress said it's an hour wait. We are willing to wait if the good is good. As I was walking out I scanned the plates on the tables. Hugh plates of pancakes and omelets.
After 45 minutes our name was called. O ordered The Grizzly bear reo eggs, bacon, hash browns and biscuits with gravy. My husband ordered the Polar bear two eggs, Bacon Hash browns and two pancakes. We could not believe the pancakes they brought my husband they were as big as a dinner plate. I am thinking biscuits with gravy one biscuit...wrong they bring another dinner plate with four biscuits covered with gravy. Then they bring our plates with eggs, bacon and hash browns. My brother and his gal ordered omelets and eggs with hash browns and bacon. Now their tables are small we don't have room for all these plates. Luckily we sat next to the window and we were able to put the napkin holder and other items on the windows ledge. Food was delicious great quantity and quality. If you come here make sure you are hungry.
The owner was very nice he actually has a great sense of humor and jokes around with his customers. He told us about his other business that is a full service deli. Grizzly Manor is opened from 6:00am - 2:00pm 7 days a week. On weekends they only serve breakfast. During the week they serve breakfast and lunch. I hope this review helps you. We will come back here. We plan on visiting his Deli to...
Read moreSo, are you looking for a great place to eat breakfast while visiting Big Bear Lake? Well, look no further than the Grizzly Manor Café, but we warn you, you better bring an oversized appetite because the breakfast portions are enormous. Our eyes were much bigger than our stomachs and we should have simply shared a meal, especially if you order pancakes or a specialty omelet. As for the taste and quality of the meal, simply one of the best breakfast meals you will find anywhere. As for the staff, every one of them had wonderful attitudes, funny yet professional and they sure made us laugh a time or two. This is not a very big restaurant with only a limited number of tables and some counter seating but what they lack in size they make up for it in the size of their meals and the prices are great. There is plenty of free parking on the side of the restaurant and the interior of the restaurant is decorated in a way to honor many who served in the United States Military, which makes it alright in our book any day of the week. Bottom line, great staff, fantastic food with supersized portions and all at a great price and served with a friendly...
Read moreWhere do I even start? From the second you roll up to the moment you float out full and happy—this place radiates good vibes. The crew here? Absolute legends. Quirky, kind, and the kind of people who feel like old friends you just met.
Now fair warning: this isn’t a massive diner. We rolled in with a party of five, and yeah—it took a minute. But not once did it feel like waiting. Even outside, something in the air shifts. Everyone’s chill. You find yourself swapping stories with strangers, basking in mountain sun, like you're already part of the brunch tribe.
And once you're in? Oh. My. Hashbrowns.
I had the three eggs with crispy hashbrowns and golden sourdough toast—simple, perfect, nostalgic. The kids devoured their French toast like it was dessert for breakfast (because it basically is), and my wife? She took one bite of the corned beef hash, paused mid-chew, and whispered, “This just changed my life.”
This place isn’t just breakfast. It’s Big Bear breakfast—a vibe, a ritual, a reason to get out of bed in snow or sun. If you're looking to eat like a local, smile like a tourist, and leave feeling like family, this...
