My partner and I went here to purchase some alcohol, which we’ve done previously on a number of occasions, and have never had any issues prior to this experience.
On Wednesday, January 29th around 10:10 PM, a middle aged woman with light brown caramel hair named Jennifer came to the self checkout to override the alcohol transaction. She immediately demanded we both provide a state ID. This has never happened in any established we’ve purchased alcohol from. My partner left his phone with his ID at home and she refused to continue the transaction. She stated that once she asked both of us for an ID, she would need it to continue any transaction, even if we re-entered the facility separately.
Jennifer was incredibly unprofessional, rude, and condescending to both of us. If I was a manager who saw her maltreatment toward us, she would have been fired on the spot. We had to make a 15 minute trip back home to retrieve the ID, another 15 minute drive back to the store, and then 15 minutes back home.
The manager was called over, Mark, who was very helpful and professional regarding the situation while Jennifer huffed and puffed at her station. Mark has seen us purchase alcohol there before, so he was a little surprised why she demanded both IDs.
An employee with such a vindictive and rude agenda, such as Jennifer, does not belong in customer service and has severely damaged our view of...
Read moreMy favorite go-to grocery store in Billings, MT. I first discovered them in Las Vegas, NV and have been a fan ever since. It was one of the things I missed most about living there. Absolutely love the bulk food options. They have the most competitive grocery prices in the area. Their non-grocery items are not as competitive. We typically shop elsewhere for these items. You do have to bag your own groceries, but that doesn't bother us. Creative option with having dual bagging lanes at each check out so there is no rush when bagging. More grocery stores should adopt this setup. Helpful to know they take cash and check only - NO credit cards. YES, they DO have coupons. You have to setup an online account at their WinCo website with your phone number and then select any/all coupons that interest you. At checkout, the cashier can explain how to redeem them BEFORE you check out. Basically, you input your phone number that is tied to the coupons into the payment terminal BEFOREHAND. Silly, but they also have a well thought out parking lot and design for shopping carts to include return and collecting them. Another thing other stores should also adopt.
Update: Still love WinCo. Still my favorite grocery store to shop in Billings, MT. Still competitive pricing on grocery items...not so much for non-grocery items. WinCo is clearly a favorite and is always, always, always busy. Recommend coming during off peak times. You'll be...
