It's a lovely local art museum. I was there for a community artist night and visited the galleries featuring contemporary art, including pieces from Andy Warhol. The reason why I gave this a mediocre rating was because of a bizarre encounter with a staff member. There was a rude sarcastic middle-aged woman (she was no lady) at the front desk. She had long black hair and could be a volunteer who thinks she's funny, which she's NOT. The artists at this event were so friendly, kind, and engaging. But that woman at the front dest should NOT be working with the public. I've visited this museum before when an elderly gentleman was there. He's awesome. Read moreFrankly I was blown away by the Yellowstone Art Museum (YAM), which is built inside the former Yellowstone County Jail. The caliber of the exhibits is very high at the largest contemporary art museum in Montana. This is the kind of museum you could spend hours in easily, learning something new in every gallery. There are exceptional exhibits inside the museum. Not only that, but the docents are extremely professional and informed. I found a lot here that was extremely educational and inspiring. Yellowstone also has a school program that encourages local kids to make art and then it is displayed inside one of the galleries on the lower level.
