A very fun and wonderful place to take the children for a morning, afternoon, or weekend visit. On top of the train ride which is priced reasonably (and also gives a discount if you are an Anthem resident I believe), they sell a good variety of concession stand items such as candy and cold treats just as you could buy from any ice cream man--perfect for a hot, Arizona summer's day! The rules posted say no eating or drinking on the train ride, which lasts approximately 15 minutes long, so if you do plan on treating yourself, you may want to wait until after the ride. The train takes you through a tunnel, near one fun park, and around the main Anthem park which is the best public park and play structure for kids I have ever experienced. It does include a splash pad for those hot summer days and a public restroom immediately adjacent to it. There is also a very beautiful memorial to veterans from all five branches of service nearby, as well as a memorial to children located in the park which I found both sweet and touching. I highly recommend this place if you want to take your child somewhere fun and special and don't mind driving to Anthem...
Read moreStaff said train was leaving at 1230 when I asked at the window while buying my ticket, at 1226 the train started blowing its horn as if it was leaving, I ran over to the staff driving the train as it had not left the station yet and told her we had our tickets for the 1230 ride and she said “your just going to have to wait for the next one” I explained that it’s not 1230 yet and if we could just get on. The train was almost completely empty but she decided that the appropriate customer service response was to yell “it is 1230 and everyone in line is on” I again explained “you said it was leaving at 1230 and no not everyone is on, it is not 1230 can we please board” But she refused as my 5 year old watched in tears that she couldn’t go on her favorite train. I have been coming to this train for many years and have never experienced such horrible customer service, it would have taken nothing for her to allow us to board the train that was still sitting in the station. This will be the end of my support of...
Read moreThis is a great park to take children of all ages. The train ride is super cool. If you go a lot, it's better to buy a packet of tickets instead of individual tickets. It's not a short ride either. It lasts at least 10 minutes or so. It's well worth it to see everything that the park has to offer and to see the ducks and the geese and the coots swimming in the lake near the fishermen who are casting their lines from the shoreside. It lets parents see different baseball and soccer fields basketball courts and the two different playgrounds—one with a splash pad and a smaller one without a splash pad. The train also rides close to the veterans memorial, which is an awesome tribute in the middle of this huge park.
It doesn't pass by the large roller rink or skate park, but that's okay because that would be a huge detour. People get to see that when they drive into the parking lot...
