Kobe Hotpot & Ramen: A Culinary Gem in Anthem
★★★★★
Kobe Hotpot & Ramen is more than just a meal; it's a delightful, communal culinary experience that truly deserves a five-star rating. As a fan of hotpot and authentic Asian cuisine, I was blown away by the quality and flavor on offer. This isn't just another restaurant; it's a destination. The selection and freshness of the ingredients are truly top-notch. The thinly sliced beef options, including the Angus Chuck Eye Roll and Kobe Top Sirloin, are perfectly marbled and melt-in-your-mouth tender, cooking beautifully in the simmering broth. The seafood, with generous portions of fresh shrimp and other options, tastes like it was just caught. What impressed me most was the vibrant and plentiful vegetable platter. It's not an afterthought; it's a star of the show. With crisp napa cabbage, leafy bok choy, sweet corn, and a variety of mushrooms, every bite felt fresh and healthy, absorbing the rich flavors of the broth. Speaking of broth, the base soup options are the heart of the hotpot experience, and Kobe excels here. I opted for the spicy miso, which delivered a perfectly balanced heat that was both exhilarating and deeply savory, without being overwhelming. My dining companion tried the Thai Fusion, a spicy lemongrass broth that was bright, aromatic, and had an incredible depth of flavor. Other options like the Black Garlic Tonkotsu and the vegan Buddha Pot with a shiitake bok choy base ensure there is a rich and complex flavor for every palate. The interactive nature of hotpot, combined with the restaurant's excellent service and inviting atmosphere, makes for a truly memorable evening. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic, making you feel welcomed from the moment you step in. If you're in the Anthem area and looking for an exceptional dining experience, Kobe Hotpot & Ramen is an absolute must-visit. The quality of the meat, seafood, and vegetables is unparalleled, and the masterful complexity of the soup bases will have you planning your next visit before you've even...
Read moreI can not rate the food in all honesty due to the fact after two attempts to try and dining in we never got the opportunity to actually sit and eat: Visit #1 Sept 2021 myself, wife and family (4 in total) went in a wanted to try it out but were told they were not set up for another table of Raman or fondue even though they were bearly half full in the restaurant, apparently they have some weird seating time thing that when I questioned about it couldn't get a definitive answer on why and noticed a slight distain in her response as I pressed the questions so I chaulked it up to be after 8.30pm and not knowing there scheduling on table sitting and we left and went next door to Legends, and decided to try another time...
Visit #2 Jan 2022 My son and I decided to go in and try it, a Fri night 7pm restaurant was fairly empty, bunch of uncleared tables, not very inviting to look at but figured no biggie. After waiting for 5-7 mins for someone to acknowledge us standing there. Finally they asked us what we were looking for Raman or fondue? I said i don't know how about both? At which point I was noticing the same bit of an attitude when we came in months earlier for asking about the service, but she told us we'd be seated in a few minutes... 10-12 minutes maybe 15 I said "I'm done", went to Legends. While we were sitting at the bar, eating and watching hockey I had a conversation with a couple next to me and they too tried to eat there on one occasion and swore they'd never go back. So after that I figured I wasn't wrong about the place and now going over there reviews I see I'm not alone in...
Read moreThe Good: Wonderful high quality food with great dipping sauces (sriracha garlic aioli or the house special sauce). Has a large enough menu to accommodate those that aren't into Japanese Ramen or Fondue. Have been there twice and love, love, love the Truffle Edamame. Teen daughter's ramen included a quail egg which she said tastes just like a regular egg so don't be put off thinking it may taste "gamey". The take home containers are so cute I am reusing them. They give you iced water carafe with filtered water (no floaties) so not necessary to order drinks. Dinner for 2 with appetizer was only $30. Loved the Japanese Animae they played on the walls and the heaters for the Ramen were a nice touch.
The Bad: The entrance is super awkward. You walk into a wall and if there isn't a hostess standing there you aren't sure what to do. Both times I have been there it has been empty except for one other table. The service by teenagers was okay but it was awkward as they stood near a wall (three of them) facing us the whole time we ate since there wasn't any other customers to attend to. Also, paying with their machine at your table is a bit of a hassle if you don't have a card...
