My wife and I were looking for something to do outside that was close so we decided to drive to Boone, NC and walk the city's 4+ miles of Green Way. We had a picnic lunch before we started. There were ample picnic tables available. As nice as that was we were surprised to see there were no public bathrooms except for 2 port-a-johns.

Then we started our walk. For the most part very nice paved walking/jogging/bike riding trails. The problem is there are no good maps anywhere to show you where you are, very little signage along the trails and no color coding or anything really on the trails to help navigate through the 4+ miles of trails. Most of our walk was "walking blind" as to where we were and which way to go.

The scenery is ok but not that great. Large power lines run through some areas which would be rather scenic if they weren't there. Of course I realize this is a green way and not an actual hiking location but you'd think by now they'd at least have the trails marked.

Oh well, we did get...

Nice flat clean and short paved walkway. Apparently a favorite for dogs, but no cleaning stations. Sil only spied one incident left on the pathway by the owner. The path can be extended by walking toward another main street and crossing a pedestrian bridge which was quite charming. The creek that runs beside the walkway also lent a pleasant sound. It was not overflowing but nearby rivers were running high with winter melt-off sp this creek Nassau normally be quite low. Even so, it looked pleasant for wading except that there is a man-made waterfall at one end of the walkway-creek combo. Only a few daffodils blooming at this time, but signs about adopting flowerbeds suggest more to come. Not for serious hikers but those needing a good short non-shopping walk on a flat surface, with...

AppState dad here, looking for a place to get a quick run, and found the Greenway. Super impressed. Buzzing with activity, good quality trail, distance markers every quarter mile, feels very safe. There was plenty of parking. People with dogs were polite and had their pups leashed; didn't see any dog poop along the trail. ... runners looking for a hilly course will be disappointed, but then greenways aren't known for being hilly. On the other hand, a good place for speed work if you want to get off the track and...

The Boone Greenway trail is more geared toward walkers than bikers. Paved, plenty of parking with facilities, shelters and picnic tables. Fairly flat, wooded and creek side. Lots of wildlife 🦌. New bridges with a scenic covered bridge. Picturesque and quiet. Unfortunately, runs along section of sewage processing area, so S T I N K Y! For riders with fat tires head left onto Kennedy gravel trails after crossing bridge and enjoy the off road ride through the hills. Curves, switchbacks, some single track. Fun

We took the Greenway Trail to Kennedy Loop with few extras trails totalling over 4 miles. The first part is paved and has a lot of people and dogs on it. There is a picnic area and also play park for kids next door. The farther we got back there was a bouldering area and then the Kennedy went up the hill and back into the woods. This trail was quiet and you felt like you were hiking instead of being out for a walk. Most of the trails have water next to them. Great trail for being in the city
