My family and I dined here and had a nice time overall. I ordered the Country Boy Breakfast and a sweet tea. It came with: three eggs, a protein of choice, two sides, and a biscuit and gravy. I ordered my eggs medium, the steak tips as my protein, hashbrown casserole for one side, and a ($2.00 upcharge) bowl of fruit for the other.
To start, the eggs were just a little too hard and underseasoned. The steak tips were on the salty side, for sure. However, eating both the eggs and steak tips together balanced each bite well and was delicious.
My meal was supposed to come with a biscuit, but I only received the gravy for it. I assumed that I was supposed to take the biscuit from the appetizer basket we received beforehand, but, considering how the menu worded it, I was supposed to receive a fresh biscuit with the meal when it came to the table.
The fruit cup was probably my only 100% legitimate complaint. I barely had any fruit (strawberries, pineapple, blackberries) in my $2.00 cup, and I'm rather positive the blackberries were pushing their expiration.
The M.V.P. was definitely the hasbrown casserole, though. 10/10 would order again. The sweet tea was also on point today.
The service was exceptional, and the atmosphere was comfy. The only other gripe I had dining here today was seeing the 91.5 health inspection score displayed before entering the dining room. I've worked food service for almost 10 years now, so I'll give them some slack with how many moving parts they have going on. Although, speaking from experience, even with it being well above a passing grade, 91.5 is still a little on the lower side.
All in all, I'd probably dine here again, but it wouldn't be my first choice in Boone for a...
Read moreAs a former CB employee who worked at two different locations, this was easily the worst experience I've ever had at a Cracker Barrel. It took nearly an hour to seat us, which was expected, given that we had a party of 11, including 4 kids. However, service was slow once we were seated, and our food was served by seat location (with seats 1-5 served first). This was normal, but what wasn't was that seats 6-11 weren't served our orders for another 20 minutes. I had wondered whether a portion of the orders were expedited to serve the kids first (although two adults got their food before two of the kids did), but when the rest of our party got our food, it was cold. Considering that the kitchen has heaters once food is prepared, this meant that our food had been moved from the heaters and was sitting out for a number of minutes before actually reaching the table. I ordered chicken fried chicken and it wasn't served until 5 or 10 minutes after I got my sides. I assumed that it was going to be hot and it was. What I wasn't expecting was a fried chicken that wasn't the signature Homestyle Chicken. I worked for CB for over three years and have been back numerous times since the homestyle chicken started becoming the default chicken for CFC and this was not the homestyle chicken. It was generic, dry, and not breaded or fried the same way. I expected the long wait time and I understand serving a party of 11 is challenging. What I was not expecting was cold food, bad food, and long gaps between when our party...
Read moreBad experience. I went to this cracker barrel with a large group of my friends and the service was very bad. We called in advance to let them know we were coming and they told us they would be prepared (they were not). As a group we had multiple things get messed up during our dining experience. For example, only half of our groups meals came out, the other half had to wait 20 minutes for their food to arrive. Also, we did not receive silverware or napkins and our food arrived room temperature. Many of my friends meals arrived burnt and without their sides or main courses. The waitress did not notice that we had no napkins, silverware, main courses and sides missing during our meal. When we asked the waitress about these things she still did not get them for us. One of my friends had to get up and go get napkins themselves. Two of my friends ordered a meal that was supposed to come with biscuits and gravy, but they were not brought out, and when asked about it, they just brought out a whole basket (12+) of biscuits. Many of the missing sides and courses (like the biscuits) were not brought out until the end, when checks were being brought out. A couple of my other friends wanted refills on their drinks and never got them, and those who did were poured the wrong drink (even though the server literally confirmed what they wanted and had the pitcher of what they wanted in her other hand). Also, receipts got messed up and it took a long time to...
