A surprisingly nice beach, easily accessible from the JFK/UMass Redline Stop on the T. This beach has large facilities for showering, using the restroom and houses a small cantina. They also have lifeguards stationed along the beach. This is more than a lot of beaches in the Boston and surrounding areas. The beach is sandy and wider than some of the other beaches scattered around Boston. I personally did not swim but I had a friend go in and report back that the sandy beach transitioned a bit to mud in the water. This was a great spot to just relax for a few hours under a umbrella on a beach chair or towel. It can get crowded as the day goes on on the weekend. It is a popular spot for people to bring volleyball nets and play during the summer. If you visit in the morning on weekdays you will have the beach to yourself. Due to its proximity to public transport, it is not a large burden to bring a chair/umbrella etc. even if you don't have a car. That being said their are a select few spots in the green spaces that line the beach and a small parking lot near the facilities. There is not much else in the surrounding area except some banks and hotels. This also makes it nice and quiet. You can have Pizza ordered and eat it at the beach which was nice when I hosted a beach clean up here. Occasionally nonprofits set up shop out front of the facilities offering things like free skin cancer screenings. Nice views of Boston in the distance.

My family and I had a great time as this was the first time we had been there. Sand is decent. Plenty of beach to go around. Parking was fine when we went, we only had to walk a short distance. It was really very relaxing and we will definitely go back sometime. Plus it's close to home as we live in Waltham. 20 min ride home that day. There is some trash around on the beach and in the water which was the only turn off for me.

My local! Busy today with families, groups of friends, older people walking and runners on the path. You can sit on the wooden seating looking at the beach under shade, or sit on the wall, sand is fine, course at water and has gentle lapping waves great for younger children with cool water for a warm day - typical city beach! Amazing to watch the fog come over at 4.30pm, lost all visibility of the view!
