Very grateful to have a beach in Boston and its has mostly nice sand, so it deserves 4 stars out of convenience (I would maybe give it 3 stars if there were more nearby beaches). Sand is nice, has some broken shells or rocks in it but not an overwhelming amount. The only thing that annoys me is that it is dirty sand. If you bring an article of white clothing or your towel is white, it'll look yellow-ish brown when leaving the beach. The water I also wouldn't recommend going into unless desperate or hot. And then I'd probably only suggest to go in upto your knees. The floor of the ocean is rocky and water around Boston bay area is not clean. Ask anyone who's lived here for a while; it's where sewage waste is dumped and other things... On the positive side, they have 2 public volleyball nets/courts open supposedly from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend which a lot of beach go-ers join other friends strangers to play a good game of...
Read moreA back bay beach that doesn't look out to the ocean. We saw some folks sunbathing but you must bring mats or tents to have a good time. Even then it is mostly for sitting and reading a book, not necessarily for dipping in the water.
The beach has a lot of pebbles and shells which could be beautiful if not for the glass shards, plastics and other trash that one will encounter. I tried bare feet walking on the sand and again, after 10 minutes I gave up and put my shoes back on.
The sidewalk has some shaded benches which offer good relief but again, what would you be looking out to? Some buildings and housing on the other side of...
Read moreThis is a great escape from the city. I feel like every year it gets a little cleaner, a little nicer and a little busier which is great. Still some room for improvement but still somehow a hidden gem for Boston that more people need to come experience in Southie. Also, this area close to the beach is finally improving in regards to real estate as people now want to live closer to the beach than in the past as more families move and grow...
