This place is alright. A no frills neighborhood gym that gets the job done. The owner is nice, the folks you email with are helpful and solves issues.
But â forget about the front desk folks â specifically the young man who sits there after 6pm â knows nothing, in a hurry to say off tangent things all over the place instead of listening to what youâre actually asking about, and defensively says things like, âI donât care what the email saysâŠâ while youâre not even done with what youâre asking about and then contradicts himself saying âwe are easy to talk toâ?!? And the older man who just sits there and watches his shows. They promote their phone app â but it sucks and doesnât really serve much purpose. e.g. I already have membershipsâbut when I click on my app under my memberships, it shows nothing about my own membership; it shows the memberships that theyâre currently selling. When I first came to the gym, I told them itâs my first time and I asked where Iâm supposed to go. The front desk elderly man just pointed to one side of the gym and went back to watch his show on his phone.
Basically they take âno one will bother youâ to the next level. No one who works there actually bothers to know about the memberships they sell or anything at all! No one knows anything but the owner and whoever answers the email. Lol.
I still go because this is the nearest gym facility near me. I suppose the area is ripe for competition or I hope this place gets bought out under new management...

Fighter traveling through Europe - coach arranged training at Mike's with a personal session daily along with gym access + classes.
Everything was arranged well in advance, confirmed one week before arriving in town.
Get to the gym and they have no idea they had anything set up. Mike not on location. Mike's mother runs the front desk, love seeing family working together. She is unfortunately quite old and unsure of what is going on. A normal 30 second process of getting checked in turned into around 45 minutes. Somehow they found someone that could do a private session, she gave me a price and wound up charging me double. Bought some shirts to take home to the boys and her tallying of prices was done long hand addition on a scrap of paper taking over 5 minutes.
Wound up training at a different gym the duration of our trip in Amsterdam.
Gym side seemed pretty great, but if you are a fighter coming into town looking for a solid and professional experience...
Read moreGreat place to lift. EDIT: Days after my review, I was told Mikeâs is reconfiguring the gym to increase the space for lifters and adding new lifting equipment. Wonderful timing. Additionally, let me tell you about itâs members: I left a pair of metal lifting J-Hook straps, and when I returned the next day to lift, the instant I walked in the weight room a lifter told me that they were exactly where I left them. I am new, few people know me, and this gentleman and I had never met. Unbelievable! I hadnât realized I had even forgotten them! The same âsmall townâ atmosphere as I just left in Georgia, which I didnât expect. Great people! It is busier in the evenings, and the other lifters are great about sharing equipment, but just leave a personal item on the equipment your using so a newbie doesnât unknowingly take it from you when you take a breath-catching walk around or when you get a paper towel. LOL. Awesome...
