I usually am not one to leave comments at all but I’m beyond disappointed on this work, from the level of professionalism to the work done on the pieces. Terrible. I will never recommend anyone go to this place and I’m sorry I went (I chose it because I saw high ratings for this shop). I brought in 4 art pieces. 1 was done correctly. But the other 3 were Chinese paper cuttings from my grandmother. These are special pieces that I wanted to preserve for a long time to come. The finished work has dirty grey glue (where it was pasted onto the mat) that’s super visible from the first glance. Secondly, one of the paintings had the string attached on the wrong side, so I can’t even hang it up! Additionally, we discussed having 2 mats for these 3 pieces and he didn’t do any correctly. When I was first there he said, “this is going to take me a lot to time and effort because these paintings have so many corners (8 for each) and I have to do many cuts on the mat.” That didn’t happen. When I saw the final result and pointed this out to him he pointed to his notes and said with great confidence that it wasn’t written there. Well, how can you blame your customer on your notes? I also called this place many times to check on the status of the art being ready and he gave me false updates. To be complete in my story he did give me $50 back.
The first time I was there dropping off the pieces he gave me an eta of about 3 weeks, and said that he will call if if it’s sooner. 3 weeks went by I called back on a Sunday for an update and he said frames are late, should be here Monday so check back on Wednesday and they should be ready for the weekend. I called that Friday and asked for an update he said it’s going to be ready Sunday or Monday. I asked if he can do Sunday because I’ll can be in the area and he said sure ok. So Sunday I go to the area and I called around noon to ask when I can pick it up and said that if he needed until end of day I can come end of day. He said to me super rudely, “LET ME DO MY JOB”, and rushes me off the phone like I was bothering him. In summary, between the treatment I received, the unrealistic expectations on the job completion, not even getting the product I wanted with the 2 mats on each painting, and the quality of work and the glue all over the mat, I can not...
Read moreI brought in a piece that was already framed and just needed to have a couple of holes drilled on the back to put on the hardware (which I'd brought with me) to hang it. I asked if he (Jake, the son) could also put a brown paper backing on the back. He said he could. While I was waiting, another man came in with a poster size piece that he needed a new glass for and he also needed the metal frame which had fallen apart put back together - he didn't need a new frame, only the bottom piece had come off. The older man, I'm assuming the father, told him it would be $80. This seemed like a lot to me, as I'm an artist and have done a lot of framing at Framer's Workshop. When Jake came back with my finished piece, after about 5 minutes, I asked how much it would be; he said $16. The only materials he'd used were the brown paper backing, a wire and rubber bumpers on the bottom. Granted, he did the job for me right away, but I thought this was a lot and wished I'd taken the time to drive to Framer's Workshop in Brookline, where I'd gotten the frame (I'd put it together myself) and where they probably would have done...
Read moreMoses was wonderful to work with when framing our black and white print. He suggested a few framing options based on how we wanted to present the print. We ultimately went with one of his suggestions and was able to turn it around within a few days. We loved how it came together! When we took the print home, we noticed that the print looked a little off-center. Without hesitation, Moses said that he would fix the issue. After inspecting the print, he noticed that the print itself was off by 1/16 of an inch and was able to manipulate the mat so that it would appear more centered. Overall, we would highly recommend West Roxbury Framing and would like to thank Moses again for being so professional and...
