Function / Event Review - It has been several months since I had a negative experience at West on Centre. I have waited to post this review because if I had posted just after the event my pure anger for the owner and staff would have been too much and would have discredited the validity of my review. I share my experience so if others choose to do business here they are aware of the challenges we experienced and can work to make sure it does not happen to them. My father passed away and we needed a restaurant that could comfortable handle the fair number State Police vehicles that would be most likely stop by. I worked with manager, whom I later found out was the owner, on the menu. My mother and I were specific with menu choices when ordering because of dietary limitations. The day of our event I called the restaurant as we were 30 minutes away coming from the funeral to give them adequate time to get food out on the buffet. The food was not ready and available when we arrived, which was a problem for some of our attendees who had no time to spare. We had very specifically ordered a food options that my mother, the widow, could eat and the ravioli, one of 2 main dishes we ordered was incorrect, it was not what we wanted nor could eat. I was told it was not possible to correct the buffet item since it was already out. Most angering was we properly planned for the number of guests and the staff was insufficient to manage the dining experience and the buffet. The restaurant was not able to keep adequate food stocked at the buffet leaving guests standing and waiting for re-stock. By the time my mother and I greeted and thanked the attendees she (and I) were left looking for sufficient food and drink and assistance from the staff. I have worked in catering and management I'm all too aware of these types of failings. Unbelievably frustrating that the staff person working primarily on the guest tables was focusing on the State Police in uniform and my mother, the widow of the State Police officer was left looking for assistance. The widow left the event completely unsatisfied and totally embarrassed about the dirty dishes that were not cleared (even by the end of the event) on every table. This failing made for a less than desirable space to spend time talking and mourning with our friends and family. Should you choose to do business here, be careful and expressive about your menu choices and be sure to confirm there will be sufficient staff so that your event looks classy and not like a children's birthday party in complete turmoil and disarray. This event took place the day of my father's funeral, I was not in any position to discuss the failings of the restaurant that day. I attempted to address my frustration a day or 2 following the event with owner by phone and she accused me of complaining as an attempt to get a discount on my bill, when in fact, a sincere apology would have gone a LONG way. (For the record there was no discount request nor granted). I caution you in using this venue for your next important...
Read moreHi, I'm Alex from the BTU school 3rd grade and I recommend you go to West because, to begin with, it's kind of fancy. For instance, the tables are always clean (unlike Mc.Donalds, and other restaurants I know )! Another example is that the waiters\waitresses wear nice clothes and are always nice to the customer. And last but not least, West never has those weird pictures on the bottom of plates. ( Those pictures are creepy)!
A second reason like West is because they have big meals. The meat is always juicy. It's a great place to go when hungry. And, they have a large variety of food and drinks. By that I mean a lot of food and drinks!
Lastly, West is a great place to go with your family. It's a great place for a family dinner or an only parents dinner. Additionally, West has things for kids to play with while waiting for food. In other words, the wait is worth it for all the yummy food!
In conclusion, I recommend you go to West.
If you are going to pick a restaurant to go to, pick West On Center. The food is a bit of money but they make it up to you by giving you the best food in town. The bacon potato cheddar cakes are the best to me. They are soft, smell like salad, and melt in your mouth. The food is made very fast. In the mashed potatoes, they always put something that adds the perfect touch, and they smell like cheese. The restaurant smells like spices. Some times you can taste the meal you ordered before it is sat your table. Most of the meals come with the following spices: pepper, salt, and rosemary. The people who serve you are nice and very polite. The seating is great. They might even let you pick your table. There are many chairs in the restaurant so if you need extras they are right there. I hope you take my advice and go to West On Center.
P.S my name is Grace and I'm from...
Read moreThis was my 3rd time eating at West on Center, but 1st time leaving a review.
When we arrived, the hostess didn’t believe that we had a reservation. We had made this reservation 3 days beforehand. She then double checked and found our reservation but then told us she didn’t see it because we made the reservation online. I don’t understand why they would have the option to make a reservation online if the staff doesn't check for them. Either way, we didn’t have to wait because there was a high top available.
Food is hit or miss. I remember being impressed with their food on my 1st visit. Then I returned a few months later to just ok food. Yesterday, my family and I went there for brunch…and unfortunately the food was just ok again. I enjoyed their banana pancakes and my drink- Aperol Spritz. My husband got their huervos rancheros and he didn’t like the way it tasted. They were very heavy handed with with Old Bay Seasoning on the potatoes. The huervos rancheros were also not made correctly. They basically tossed 2 tortillas on the side of the dish - which is what I would expect for a taco or fajita dish and not huervos rancheros. We’re used to the fried or charred tortillas UNDER the beans and eggs, so that everything is eaten together. My kids got their kids grilled cheese with French fries and the BBQ chicken sandwich with French fries. The grilled cheese was barely grilled and the French Fries for both of my kids’ dishes were over cooked but soggy at the same time.
The pros are their pancakes and drinks. I remember their drinks always being good. Our waiter was also...
