If you like historic vehicles, have I found the place for you!!
The building itself started as a carriage factory in the 1870s later becoming a truck body shop. Many of the vehicles on display here were actually built here or have passed through the building at some point. And the vehicles themselves? They have some historic gems here. The oldest vehicle is a sleigh from 1763. The majority of stuff here is from 1900 to around 1950 and include oddball manufacturers. The cars are in various conditions, some appear to be freshly pulled from a barn to others that look showroom new.
As if all that wasn't cool enough, you can walk around and stick your head inside all the vehicles. Of course you can't touch anything. That's the hardest part! You'll just want to hop inside these awesome old cars and go for a cruise! Keep your hands to yourself because the next car is cooler then the last! OH! Don't forget the carriage shop with the working blacksmith!
They've also got an old diner and an old gas station inside. And apparently you can have a party here too because they were setting one up while we were there.
Give yourself a couple of hours to stroll through here. There is a lot of reading and time will fly past you as you wander around thinking about what it must have been like to drive or work out of these amazing vehicles. This is the kind of place that if it was closer to my home, I'd volunteer as often as possible. And I don't volunteer for anything. It's...

My kid was only about 16 months old when the pandemic lockdowns began, so most of the last year has been spent outdoors. We still enjoy it, but I spend more time looking for interesting things for him to see indoors. Museums and things like that are always great for a two and a half year old to see. And like all toddlers, my kid is absolutely addicted to cars and trucks.
I found this museum through a simple Google search. It looked fine, but I didn't expect how Grand it really was. The place is absolutely enormous and has an endless display of gorgeous classic and antique vehicles. Everything back to the beginning of motor transportation, and all of it built in pennsylvania.
There is also a huge room where the blacksmithing process is shown and how old carriages and sleighs were built. The entire place is absolutely gorgeous. It cannot be cleaner, or more well-appointed. It is as interesting as it is beautiful.
It is also a terrific value at $10 for adults, nine if you are AAA member. My son got in for free as he is under 3 years old.
It was worth the hour and 10 minute drive, no question. I plan to take him again, and the rest of the...
Read moreI have lived in the area for 26 years and never visited. HUGE mistake. This museum is amazing. I never realized the number of care manufacturers they were in Pennsylvania and especially in this area. The collection is large and we spent nearly two hours enjoying it. There is a full size diner from Reading inside (Display not functioning) horseless carriages, electric vehicles from the past, vehicles that are over 100 years old and nearly every single one restored beautifully. Cars, trucks, military, civilian, ambulance, wide variety. There is an old buggy area upstairs and a metal working/industry area. This is the best margin on the area and a real gem. Plenty of parking and special events throughout the year. I recommend this highly for car enthusiasts, history buffs and anyone who wants to learn a bit about the industry in the area. Kids would love it too. Don’t miss out like we did for many years if you have a hour or two to spend stop on in. You won’t be disappointed. Just a couple pics of the diner and the hurst which I...
