If you are considering a stay in or near King of Prussia PA or if you live in the area and want a weekend out of town and Philly is a pain in the keister, I would highly recommend The Atherton Inn in, yes, Boyertown, PA. Now, don't scroll on to the next review. I'm telling you, Boyertown is an adorable gem hovering somewhere between old fashioned and up and coming. We had the occasion to spend a wonderful weekend at the amazingly restored Atherton - formerly known as The Twin Turrets - in mid September 2023 for a wedding. We rented the whole Inn for family and the Bride, Groom and her attendants. Since we needed special attention and requirements I reached out to the Innkeeper who could not be more welcoming and accommodating. It was important to us that our guests enjoyed the Inn and to a person they did. We were all amazed how beautifully appointed it was and enjoyed the outside seating areas with the fire pit on the deck and a quiet seating garden with a fish pond and statuary in the rear.|Note that the Inn is run more like an Air BNB than a hotel so there are no attendants, front desk or other staff in house while we were there. |Each room is lovelier than the next. Well appointed with all the comforts. Cozy beds, soft towels in well appointed bathrooms in each room and common areas to handle a crowd. To be honest, this would be a great place for a small wedding. On the first floor are 2 large Living areas. One has a grand piano that can be played or programmed to play a multitude of tunes. The other room has a HUGE TV in it that you could play videos, video games, watch the game or entertain kids for awhile. Everything was very comfortable. On the other side of the first floor, there is a full kitchen. You may bring anything you want and store it in a huge refrigerator. There are plenty of plates and other items too. She has a Keurig coffee maker with pods AND a Nespresso machine with pods for it. Of course you could bring your own of course. The Inn provides snacks, fruit, yogurts, bottled water, seltzers and juice, granola bars, cookies, some small pastries and candies, etc. We brought some things for our guests and purposes so I don't really remember everything. But more importantly, there is a very large gathering room with 4 large dining tables and other seating areas which were wonderful for morning, mid day snacks and Apres wedding festivities and the next morning.|I'm not sure there was anything in particular that we didn't like except maybe the air conditioners in the downstairs common areas. They were difficult to keep the area cool but mostly it was because we didn't know how to use them properly. There was no problem in the guest rooms at all.|We weren't rushed to leave since the Innkeeper kindly allowed us extended check out. All the check in and check out is done online so again there is no turning in keys or anything which was great.|The Atherton is truly a hidden gem in the area and I encourage everyone to check them out and check out Boyertown too. We enjoyed a micro brewery, old fashioned candy store, a pet store where the children played with puppies and farm market that was having a Hard Cider fest. There is also an old fashioned railroad that gives rides (on a schedule) and a wonderful breakfast location and Crossfit Studio to work off...
Read moreWhat a gem! From the moment you step off the sidewalk an into this fabulous inn you are in a different world. Calm, peaceful, pristine. Tastefully decorated in an understated way to honor the Penn State connection that will make the "We Are" crowd smile, and those who are not will just enjoy the serene blues and white interior. The generous size of the shared spaces allows for everyone to enjoy their time. The Inn was full during our entire weekend, but we literally only spent some time in the presence of other guests for a fleeting moment here or there. Short walking distance to several very nice restaurants and coffee shops, as well as hobby shops, antiques, books, and just historical buildings and preservations to catch your eye. We came to enjoy the Railroad, which is lovely, and will be expanding...and is also a 5-minute walk away. We also booked early and stayed in the Turret Room. What a delight! Honestly, I would consider just staying in this Inn a destination on its own as a way to escape for a less-stress weekend. Thank you...
Read moreOn a day when everything went wrong....the Atherton was everything right! My daughter stayed at the Atherton the night before her wedding and everything was so beautiful and so perfect. This Inn is a historic beauty in Boyertown, PA just outside of Philadelphia, PA. The entire Inn, along with it stunning turrets, beautiful balcony retreat and lush gardens added to this beautiful day. We were serenaded by the piano where you could chose your music...no need to do so as Brenda chose the perfect music. The night of the wedding, Kenzie and Matt spent their wedding night. Matt is a history buff so this was so fitting for him. Brenda and her staff were so accommodating. Nothing was too much to ask. When the pictures come back from the wedding photographer, I will update this post to show the true beauty of this perfectly appointed oasis suitable for every occasion...or...
