This place instantly became the one restaurant I want to go to every time I'm in the area. The beers are fantastic, the food is delicious, the staff are wonderful, and the atmosphere is pleasant.
Like the TARDIS, it's much much bigger on the inside, but it's not stuffed to the walls with tables. This allows you stretch out with your family and be comfortable, and not feel like you need to squeeze into a little tiny area to avoid touching other people. The decor and furniture is kept to a historic Boyertown classic feel of the area without feeling old.
Being a brewery, the expectation is to have a decent selection of quality beers and boy do they deliver. A long list of IPAs, plus some excellent seasonal ales, a few wheat beers, and a few delicious ciders. Looks like the website selection is outdated, but you'll still find a beer you'll like from the much larger selection in the restaurant. The Link N Pin lager was the biggest surprise. Being a light lager, I was assuming a flavor much like a standard Coors or Budweiser, but this beer has the light crispness of a wheat and the full flavored body of a dark lager with wonderful fruit notes. The Pumpkin ale and the Autumn ale are stellar, where the pumpkin is not your typical Fall pumpkin flavor but a delicious Christmas spice pumpkin, and the Autumn tastes like Fall Thanksgiving spice flavors. As I learned from the server, the Chill Pill wheat is a divisive flavor that many people send back due to tasting a little like cleaning solution. I actually found the flavor to be fine, but I see where they're coming from. The Chill Pill wheat tastes like it used lemon as the base citrus instead of the usual orange and the hops used likely added some additional lemony citrus funk flavors that give this beer a bit of lemon Pine-sol breath or aftertaste that might not be pleasant to everyone. I found it to be crisp and refreshing, and definitely an interesting take on the wheat style.
The food was excellent. For starters, the pretzel with everything bagel spice was ok, but my family would have preferred the classic salt instead of bleh everything spice. The beer cheese fondue is very cheesy, but the whole grain mustard is probably the best mustard I've ever had at any establishment. This mustard also comes with the Pigs in a Blanket, which is a perfect pairing. The Pigs in a Blanket kielbasa has a wonderful smokey flavor, but the puff pastry around it doesn't really add anything other than a way to limit grease on your fingers. The brewhouse burger is big, primarily due to the onion rings inside, but you probably don't need the 2-patty version anyway since the patties are thick. The burger comes with a special horseradish sauce that doesn't add as much bite or horseradishy flavor as you would expect, but the meat is very flavorful and really carries this burger perfectly fine. The brick oven pizza is of a great quality you would expect; the crisp crust and smokey flavors added to the cheese make the pizza delicious. The buffalo chicken is the perfect mix of Bleu cheese and buffalo chicken, though for since people the Bleu cheese might be too much. There isn't much celery, but I think they could get away with more since the celery tends to add a satisfying crunch to the pizza.
I look forward to the next time I go to The Other Farm, I really want to try out other things on the menu or just hang...
Read moreOne hot and humid summer evening, we decided to give this place a shot. We figured sitting inside would be better than dining at one of their outdoor tables...Nope...it was HOTTER INSIDE! Regardless, I was excited when our appetizer, "The Trio of Hummus," arrived. The first item I chose to dip was a calamata olive. I bit down straight into an OLIVE PIT and lost a temporary crown! As WE ARE FAR FROM COMPLAINERS, we didn't say a word. When the mains arrived, things only got worse. I chose the Apple and Brie Panini. My first hopeful bite was ruined by the OVERWHELMING MOLDY TASTE OF BRIE RIND...YUCK!! I reluctantly ordered a different panini bc I VERY RARELY send food back. I chose a Greek-Style Panini and hoped that we could at least end on a decent note. Again, NOPE...The panini was soaking wet from oil or butter and guess what?! I bit into ANOTHER UNPITTED OLIVE LURKING INSIDE THE SANDWICH!!! Again, because I ABSOLUTELY DETEST DRAMA, I said nothing. By this time, my appetite was gone and I just wanted to go home. I believe this place is less for foodies and more for boozies. Now, I have nothing against people who drink by any means!! In fact, my husband really ENOYED one of their SUPER DARK IPAs. I guess this restaurant focuses more on the brews and bar food instead of making the best meal possible...We'll stick with our favorite local spot, "The Grind." They serve over 40 different types of bourbons yet still manage to achieve an excellent...
Read moreMaybe we hit a bad night, because friends have told us it’s good. We were there on a Friday night, a little busy, very loud, hard to hold a conversation. Our booth had wooden slat benches, ours seemed warped and very uncomfortable. Some tables had cushioned chairs, probably better. Beer was good, can’t say great. Most come in 12 oz. Glasses, not 16. Pizza was fine, not bad, not great. Fish and chips pretty bad, maybe my fish was a weird piece, had some tougher sections (overdone?) and really greasy, got a ton of fries but they were kind of old and limp, also very salty. Waiter should probably find another job, pleasant and polite but clueless. Everything we ordered was “his favorite.” Almost creepy staring at us from across the room while we ate (he sat down at an empty table for no apparent purpose other than to rest? Had I ever sat down at any of my restaurant jobs, in sight of customers, I’d have been fired on the spot.) Doesn’t seem as if anyone had any training or guidance, perhaps there is no manager to explain what should be done. Lots of little kids screaming and running around unrestrained by their parents who were more than oblivious. Can’t entirely fault the restaurant for wacky patrons. When did it become fashionable to bring toddlers to a brewpub, and ignore them while they annoy other customers? Overall experience not one we are...
