We went to Grind for the first time last evening. The weather was bad with a mixture of snow, sleet, and rain that had fallen throughout the entire day. The roads were not in great condition so travel was a bit rough. Before we left the house we decided to confirm that Grind was still open given the weather circumstances. They had updated their status on Facebook to let their customers know that they were, indeed, still open but that they had a somewhat limited staff because some of the employees could not get to the restaurant to work. They asked for patience as they worked hard to handle the dinner crowd . We decided to make the trip anyway as we had no plans that evening.
Upon arrival, the restaurant was very busy when you considered the travel limitations. We were greeted immediately and advised that there would be a 5 minute wait. The restaurant is beautiful on the inside with a combination industrial/rustic decor. High open ceilings with open beams, lots of woodwork, accented by some sheet metal that adorns the interior of the restaurant. The restaurant was spotlessly clean and was very nicely lit. We sat and waited while they readied a table. We were seated in about the time estimated and almost immediately greeted by our waiter, Tom.
It was very evident that Tom was hustling to keep every one of his customers happy. There was only two wait staff working and the majority of the tables were filled. Throughout the 90 minutes that we were at Grind, we got to know Tom pretty well and he is a gem. He normally works as a bartender and helps out a bit waiting tables. Last night, he seemed to be responsible for about 8 tables and he never left us feeling neglected. The owner, Keith, also stopped at our table multiple times to interact with us. He introduced himself, asked about the food, the service, and what they could do better. It is very clear that this is Keith's passion as he has invested so much of his time into making this restaurant a reality. I could not have been more impressed with everyone we interacted with at Grind. They are seemingly genuine people that want you to have a great experience as a customer at their establishment.
The food was spectacular! We sampled a little bit of everything throughout the course of dinner. The poutine appetizer is a very nice and unique spin on the traditional French version of the dish. The Caesar salad is also wonderful and is not your typical version. They leave the hearts of Roamaine whole and dress them wonderfully. I can best describe it as a cross between a wedge salad and a Caesar salad. Fresh, delicious, and unique. I had the meatball bowl with chicken meatballs with chicken jus over mushroom risotto. It was delicious! The meatballs were hot, tender, and seasoned perfectly. My wife had the meatball sliders and she said they were great as well. She enjoyed the crab meatball slider quite a bit. My daughter had the grilled cheese sandwich with chicken meatball on it. Again, another wonderful option that is unique and creative but delicious. We wrapped by sharing hot, fresh donuts, and turtle cheesecake for dessert. These were also both simply delicious. The hot donuts may have had the edge as they melted in your mouth.
In summary and as I told Tom before we left, they have a great opportunity to do something special at Grind. The food is amazing, the location is solid, and the people that we interacted with seem to genuinely care about the food and service and product they provide. I was also impressed with the value of the meal. I have paid much more for meals that I did not enjoy nearly as much in the past. You can go to Grind in a suit and tie or in a flannel shirt and blue jeans and you will fit in either way. If you are looking for a new experience in the Boyertown area, you need to give this a chance. I firmly believe that it is the real deal. We will be...
Read moreThis is definitely a gem we came across looking for semi fancy restraunts when we like to dress nice and have a nice dinner date. You get some good food for a great price. Last year we came across this place and had a wonderful date night here. Than we took my partner mom for christmas eve dinner and the wood was still great and staff was wonderful when they were busy with the holiday season. We just went back recently for a fancy date night. We started with some flavored lemonades. Which are good and little exspensive at $5 each but it has some good flavors to it. Than we got ranch chicken flatbread which is always freaking amazing. Has such a good fresh flavor to it and light. Than i got the meatball bowl with beef meatballs and there yummy mac and cheese. And my partner got a burger. Which was the first time we tried something else besides the bowl. It was really good and juicy. And the fries also had a fresh taste too.
Everthing so far with our multiple trips have also left us filled and happy with service and food. I would suggest to get a reservation just in case. And get some desert if you leave some room. They also have beer and mix drink specials if your interested in that. Youll see pictures attached to this review from our last visit. Which i got caught taking the pictures and the waitress was funny about it. But the things i do to show some love nothing bad lol. Yeah the prices are little high but they are reasonable. And the food and ingredients definitely make the price worth it. The atmosphere is also really fun. kind of gives you a mix of upscale but also at home chill feeling. You can have an intimate dinner or have a large group of people and not feel crowded which is awesome. So check them out see if you have the same experience hopefully. And if not definitely worth giving them a second chance. Will be our fancy date nite or important meeting place for sure...
Read moreWe tried Grind our first time Saturday December 16th. The main restaurant area was busy but nobody was in the lounge. It took a couple minutes to be seated as they had to clean a table, not a big deal but the two hostesses seemed to not be doing much when we walked in. Our waitress came to the table quickly and asked for our drink orders, I was still deciding. I eventually ordered their special Christmas drinks, Santa's Cookie and it was delicious and a well balanced cocktail. We ordered the chicken, bacon, ranch flatbread. It was tasty but nothing special and could have used something fresh like chives. For our main courses we ordered the Chicken Florentine and chicken meatball as a grilled cheese sandwich. The chicken Florentine was delicious and crispy, the polenta was good but nothing special and needed salt and pepper. The chicken meatballs were soft, gummy, and had very little flavor. They were very unappetizing. The grilled cheese wasn't anything special, was well grilled on one side of the bread but not on the other and only had a couple slices of cheese perhaps American cheese. The spicy sauce that was served with it was okay and helped with some flavor but all in all not a good dish. Left a bad taste and did not settle well. I will say they had a good amount of people dining that night and other than it taking a considerable amount of time for my cocktail the service was phenomenal. I don't remember our server's name but she was especially great, informative and pleasant. A manager came by to also check on us and see if we needed a beer. I mentioned to him that I was still waiting for my cocktail. Overall nice atmosphere, great service, but the food was disappointing. The menu could use a few more options it is heavy on seafood which I don't really eat. It is a bit of a drive from us so probably will...
