I've been popping in this place for months, meaning to give it the time it deserves. A few reasons I would walk out immediately is 1. Fragrant/Chemical Sensitivity (strong artificial fragrances consume the store via lit candles) 2. Bad lighting 3. Inaccurate, poor quality, unflattering mirrors.
I finally set aside a few hours to comb through racks and accumulate a pile to try on. A young woman, Allissa was SO HELPFUL and supportive, engaging, thoughtful. The selections are well curated, organized in sections that are easy to understand, and there is even a back area of 50% off. This is a place to go if you want to cultivate your eye, buy some bolder 'pop' pieces, or just browse to take the temperature of fashion.
I took my time to try on a variety of brands including designers, and take my time to cultivate my eye. I spent just under $400.
I WOULD POP IN HERE WEEKLY TO BUY IF 1. GOOD LIGHTING 2. GOOD MIRRORS 3. FRAGRANT FREE. I will still shop here. But even at check-out a very petite young woman who checked me out said "yes, my self-esteem has worsened since working here with these mirrors."
Fortunately, I had a friendly acquaintance shopping at the same time that was able to give me some accurate feedback. I asked a few work colleagues/friends about their experience here, and they echoed the same thing and encouraged me to post. I hate posting anything other than 5 STARS, I really hope they consider improving lighting and mirror quality and make it fragrant free. As women we want beautiful experiences. After all they are literally selling designer brands like GUCCI etc. It does have a great consignment selection and the young women are very sweet and engaging. (there is a yelp option to post a photo, next time I'm in I will post a photo of the mirror and...
Read moreUpdating my review from a few years ago to say—STILL my fave 2ndhand store, and you STILL also have to really, really check the clothes, OUTSIDE the dressing rooms (which are a bit dark and hide stuff, especially the one furthest right).
I found a dress I was really excited about yesterday, and just this afternoon noticed it's got a huge 3" chunk of the back missing with a large black stain. Somebody clearly stepped on the back and ripped it. It's such a ruffly dress the big rip kinda blended in, so I get why we all missed it, but wish I'd stuck to my rule of always inspecting everything in-depth by the big window. It's not a total waste, but not worth the $25 in credit I paid for it.
Still love them (was back in today to grab a jean jacket I'd thought twice on), but STAY VIGILANT!
Hands down my favorite secondhand store...with one important caveat: really check the clothes before you buy them!! After finding stains and holes on my new purchases after I got home, I now always carefully inspect everything...and wind up putting back at least a few things I would have bought if I hadn't checked. I'm not sure if some people just don't mind little stains and holes, or if they're missing them...but it's the one downside for me.
Everything else is pretty dang dreamy: it's clean, the clothes are really well-organized and well-curated, the staff is very sweet and on top of starting you a room so you aren't dragging clothes all over the store...I'm able to afford this habit because I sell old clothes there...I love it and I'm really glad it's something we...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I have enjoyed shopping at this establishment for years, my mother has even sold furniture here and for years I sold furniture without issue........ Now some want to be cowgirl who seems like she just moved up from Southern Cal, and has brought her big city values and ways of doing business with her.
The new owner says she does not honor the past owners agreements in terms of consignments and will not pay me my portion of the consignment because it was over the 90-day policy which the prior owner and I had an agreement to keep the stuff there because The prior owner liked it for staging other items for sale in the store. And has basically refused to pay me for an item that she even admits was sold.
Long story short it's really too bad cuz I used to enjoy shopping there and was a great resource in getting rid of family stuff that was no longer needed. But that seems to be the way things are going now in...
