Booked the 5pm VIP Santa Safari. The email we received said to arrive 45 minutes prior. At 4:15pm we were at Booth 1 but no one was there. Went to the zoo entrance to find a restroom but the staff said the zoo was closed and that we could use the bathroom once we got to the loading area for the tram at 4:30pm. At 4:30 we were let thru. The person at the front gave us directions to where we were to load for the tour. She said to take a right at the T intersection. Problem, there are many possible T intersections. But we eventually found a T after the light arches after driving thru the entire display and thinking we would miss the tour since she said to be there before 5. At the gift shop, once we found it, we waited. 5:20 came and we were told that a large family who was part of the 5pm tour was “missing.” Apparently the front gate person told them they were part of the 6pm tour. As we and three other families waited, the driver of the tour tapped danced and gave excuses. He even said that because there is a tight turn around from when the zoo closes and lights starts that issues happen. If that is the case, don’t have a 5pm tour! They wouldn’t even let us go and see the reindeer and take pictures as we waited for this family to expedite the process. At 5:30, our 5pm tour finally started. It ended at 6pm. So we paid for an hour tour and got 30 minutes. The tram never stayed long enough at each animal stop for everyone to enjoy them. It was rushed. You do get cocoa and hot chocolate and can visit Santa after but you’d be better off staying home and playing a board game and enjoying time with your loved ones then participating in...
Read moreWe visited let there be lights last week around 8pm. It wasn't too busy and it was really neat driving down the paths to see the lights. We had zero expectations of seeing any of the animals the are outside since it was late at night, but we were pleasantly surprised quite a few of them, we're resting near the fences, and we could get a peek. ( it was also still pretty warm outside) At the end of the lights, you are allowed to go inside two buildings. One building has over 20 animals you can see up close. Mostly reptiles, guinea pigs, a hedgehog monkeys, etc You are given the opportunity to pay for an experience, i believe it was around $15 for 15 minutes of holding a baby kangaroo. Everything else is included in your admission. Outside of the building where the animals are, they have goats, a miniature horse and a lama you can pet. The other building you can visit has Santa Claus. You can have your picture taken with him there. The entire experience was about an hour, 20 mins of lights and the rest of the time was spent exploring the animals in the building. I would highly recommend this...
Read moreI guess you'd have to say we loved this drive-thru light display - considering we drove through 5 times! (Return trips are free on the same night - just show your receipt when re-entering). Several displays are synchronized to the music when your car radio is tuned to the FM station they tell you to. That's why we kept coming back - so we could catch a gap in the traffic so we could just park for a few minutes to watch the lights dance to the music! Someone did a great job on that part especially. We did see only a few of the animals along the drive, but hey, it's dark out there! But the light displays were plenty for us. No grandkids with us this trip, so we didn't stop to see Santa or the petting zoo, so can't vouch for that part. Maybe a little pricey for some at $30, but making multiple trips through in one night, we definitely got our...
