Went in yesterday to view the plants. They had a small selection of house plants. An elderly man asked if I needed help I said yes and asked if the bamboo plant was the only one left or was there more. He told me that's all the house plants left. They have toys in the shop. My kids went by the toys section to look. One of my kids picked up toys but did not damage or even play with them. Yhe elderly man went toward them to tell them to stop and had my oldest son get out the chair that was by the toy section and told them they can't stay there. I'm confused about why he would say something seeming how I was close by looking at other plants not even 5 feet away. I was going to get two plants but decided on getting one since I couldn't find the plant I purchased anywhere else and needed it as a gift right away. I went to the register to pay for the plant with my kid and left. I'm not sure why he was rude toward my children when they weren't doing anything but looking. My one kid started to whine because I picked him up while leaving away from the toys because of the elderly man. I would've even bought a toy but with the way he talked to my kids I didn't. The outside plants there didn't look good and looked like they were still at the beginning stage of growth. I've lived near this Nursery for years and the first time I go inside I didn't like the way my kids and I was approached. On the way in it was a man sitting outside that was very nice and helped my other kid get a cart. I will not return though. I'll travel to other Nurseries instead. Update..4 days later the person I purchased the plant from check the soil and it crumbled in her hands and when she looked at the roots it had root rot so she has to nurse it back to health and get some...
Read moreI recently visited Busy Bee Nursery in Crestwood and, unfortunately, left feeling quite disappointed. I had high hopes for a robust garden center or nursery experience, but what I encountered was very different from what I expected.
To start, at least half of the main building is dedicated to what felt more like a resale shop—think Goodwill or Salvation Army. Clothing, home décor, and miscellaneous items filled the space, and many of them appeared to be of lower quality or secondhand. If you’re visiting for the nursery side of things, it’s not immediately clear that it’s even a garden center.
In the back portion of the property, they did have greenhouses with various hanging baskets, annuals, and starter vegetable plants. They also had a selection of trees and some outdoor stock. What they did have looked healthy and well-maintained, which I appreciate. However, the selection overall was fairly limited—especially if you’re looking for something specific.
Personally, I was in search of lavender in either potted or ready-to-plant form. I walked around for a while but was never approached by any staff or asked if I needed help. That lack of engagement made the experience feel even less welcoming.
To be fair, the plants they did carry looked nice, and for someone browsing for general seasonal flowers or starter veggies, this might be an okay stop. But if you’re looking for a wider selection of perennials, herbs, or native plants—or if you’re used to a more traditional nursery layout—this probably isn’t the place.
In the end, I didn’t find what I was looking for and left empty-handed. I wouldn’t say it’s a “bad” place, but it definitely didn’t meet my expectations for a nursery or garden center, and I likely...
Read moreThis place is a wreck, extremely disorganized and quite eerie. Definitely provides a creepy vibe experience however I try to support local businesses. Their hours of business on Thursdays is 9-6pm. The the last 2 times I went there (on Thursday) they said "were closing at 5:30 today" therefore closed a half hour early, clearly (repetitive) bad business practice. Their electronic sign says items are $0.50 on Thursday but the first time I went there they charged me $1 for each clothing bin item without price tags. The following week (on Thursday) I selected 3 clothing bin items without price tags and was told the total was over $7. When I asked why the total was so much the OWNER alleged that one of the items was "2 pieces, a top and bottom" however the item was a top with (attached) sports bra (therefore 1 item). I advised that last Thursday he (OWNER) charged me $1 for each item and inquired how is the total for 3 (or 4) items over $7 today? The owner immediately became enraged, aggressively snatched the items off the counter and responded "Thats a deal, I'm not gonna argue with you and not going to sell you anything!!!" I responded "You're not gonna sell me anything? That's how you treat your customers when they ask you a question?" His was response was "You can leave!!!" His actions were clearly...
