Aura — Hotel in Bremen Township

Where do i begin... honestly i know this review will not stop people from going to this establishment but i need to inform people of my how my 2/15/2018 night ended. First of all i live in the western suburbs an could have stayed anywhere else. But wanted to stay at The Aura due to the Jacuzzi bein extremely hot An we needed to CHILL. I’ve never stayed in any other of the suites they offer only The Luxe Room 130 was the room we stayed in. Our reservation was for 10:30 an we checked in around 11pm fine whatever. We checked in An went to grab food An came back. Entered the room changed clothes to relax an eat an watch tv. Here’s the first issue. So the all the TVs in the room (3) had issues kept goin in an out so i contacted the front desk spoke with THERESA she told me It wasn’t they issue An to deal with It or she could give me a full refund an we could leave. That wasn’t happening we weren’t leaving. But she could have accommodated with anything a bottle a credit, anything but she didn’t. I did t feel like goin there i just wanted to cool out. So after we used the jacuzzi an watched the only thing that would play on the tv which was PORN. We decided to go upstairs an chill so we was on the bed laughing an Whatever an a ROACH crawls across the head board. That was It! I was DONE! So i contacted the front desk again i get THERESA at this point she goes to tell me she was only giving me $130 back because we had been there two hours. We paid $310 how was this even possible. I couldn’t believe she was telling me She was only goin to give me $130. After all of the issues i was having. Like i was lying. I took pictures i have footage. An her behavior was unacceptable. Told me she was goin to have me thrown in jail due to me bein upset and wanting my money back so i could LEAVE. THEN TOLD ME I COULD NEVER RETURN. SOOOOO WHATTTT Y’all have ROACHES. THATS NASTY!!! I will inform everyone i know about THE AURA An i will contact BBB as well as leave reviews every where i can think of. On February 2, 2022, I booked the Luxe, with a room rate of $351.00. In addition, I paid a $50.00 membership fee. This was my first time staying at this hotel and my reservation was for 7:00 pm. I arrived on time, only to be told the room was not ready 3 times. Finally, after waiting almost 3 hours we got the room. We tried not to let the situation ruin our night; and the hotel provided a 15% discount, chocolate covered strawberries, rose petals on the bed, and an upgrade to our champagne at no additional charge. Normal check-out was at noon, but we were told that we could stay until 1:00 pm. At this point, I felt okay about the extreme delay. However, the next day at 1:05 pm, we received a call from the front desk asking if we were leaving and I informed the representative that we would be leaving in 5 minutes. I tried to explain the horrible experience we had checking in and the lady accused me of yelling at her. I said that I was not yelling, just trying to explain the situation, and then she hung up on me. She was never listening to me because before she hung up, she said the hotel charged an additional fee after 15 minutes and it had only been 5 minutes. There was only 1 lady at the front desk when I checked out 5 minutes later, and she said her name was Rebecca. I told her that I was going to let her manager know that she hung up on me and she continued to be rude. I finally lost it and said a couple choice words to her, and she had the audacity to tell me that my membership would be canceled. On my way home I called the company and asked for the corporate office to complain and was told that there wasn't one. I left a message for the director, explained the entire situation, and no one ever called me back. I was more that patient with this company and I feel that someone should have at least reached out to me to...

We first visited Aura in 2016. It felt like a true adult-only escape. Upon checking in, there was no one else in the lobby, and it gave the impression of discrete. The room then was amazing.

Fast forward to 2023, and I have no desire to return. We had a check-in time but apparently everyone was given the same or near similar time. There were nine other guests in the lobby with us. There are only four parking sports outside the gate, so vehicles were double-parked, and it felt like one of those strategy games moving cars around so others could proceed forward through the gate.

Several guests complained of not being told their guest needed to be present with I.D. before they could check-in. This should have been communicated on the phone before confirming the reservation, or online at the step before submitting the reservation. Maybe this alone would have allowed for staggered check-in times for guests and eliminated so many guests in the lobby.

We got to our room, and the smell of old smoke was permeating through the air and embedded in the bed linen and pillows. I've been in cigar lounges that had better quality air. For overnight guests, it sticks to your belongings. It made for an uncomfortable and unpleasurable stay. Throw everything in the washer with Lysol!

Throughout the night I was awakened by the sound of housekeeping. I get it, they are doing their job, but perhaps have a system where the first four-hour stay starts at 6 a.m. and the last four-hour stay starts at 8 p.m. This allows overnight guests limited interruptio. Or, keep overnight rooms separate from multi-hour visits.
