I recently wrote a negative review about Good Will. Today I visited the Brick Store again. I had to add to my previous comment. As usual, the store was a mess. Shelves were overflowing to the point in some areas it was hard to move things to see what was there. They put things out that are broken or so used that they belong in the garbage. For example, I looked at two jar candles (not a major brand) that were burned more than half way down. Both were priced at $5 99. Four items I was interested in were not priced. I asked for prices which they gave me. As with almost everything they sell, the prices were too high for the used items I was looking at. The icing on the cake was at the check out. I had two Ray Dunn cups I guess you would call them. The larger one was priced 1 99. A smaller version was 2.99. I questioned why and the manager was called over. She quickly and abruptly told me they had to charge me 2.99 for each one because the larger one was marked wrong. I said I would not pay 2 99 because it was marked 1.99. She then accused me of changing the sticker. lol. How dare she suggest that. For one thing, the stickers don't come off without a struggle. It would have been impossible! While shopping there was a woman working on organizing shelves. Her organization of the framed art made it possible to look at what was there. For that reason, I came across two pictures to buy that I never would have seen if I had to dig through the mess. I was appalled to hear the manager sarcastically say something to her like I hope you aren't playing house over there like she was doing something wrong. More appropriate would have been great job or that looks so much better. Maybe if they were more selective with the quality of the items they put on the shelves, threw out broken and worn out things, didn't throw a bunch of stuff in plastic bags that you can't look into, didn't pile stuff on top of each other making it hard to see anything and priced things like what they, used, they would sell more. The price of some items is disgraceful . . the same or more than it would cost new. Everything is donated. If the cost to run the business is going up so much, maybe it is time for the CEO to take a cut in salary.
Very disappointed with Good Will. The three stores I have gone to near me, including the Brick Store, are very disorganized and messy. I am appalled by the direction this store has taken. To begin with, the prices they charge are becoming ridiculous for donated items. I have to laugh when they try to sell Dollar Tree items for more than it costs new. Clothing prices are high and not worth it for the condition of some of the clothes. Brick has done away with 50% off the two colors of the week. They have also done away with items of those colors being $1 on Sunday. I guess they care more about lining the pockets of the CEO with money made on donations than providing affordable things for people in need. Do not donate to Good Will. There are thrift stores that sell quality items at lower prices. In addition, the money they make is used to help people in...
Read moreI was in this store two weeks ago looking for a simple mixing bowl and a couple of other things. I found a simple glass mixing bowl (did NOT appear to be vintage!) in the size that I needed. Imagine my shock when the price said $9!! A ratty old beach cover up was priced at $10. I wound up leaving with nothing and went to HomeGoods where I found the same mixing bowl for $4.99. I can understand if they have some rare antique and they need to price it slightly higher but for the most part, there was a LOT of junk. Highly priced junk.
I am not understanding this price gouging!! Goodwill was absolutely trashed, there was stuff everywhere, they cannot put everything away because they don’t have enough room, there were boxes in the middle of the aisles overflowing with stuff that they didn’t have room for.
The shelves in the housewares section were packed to the gills and things were falling all over the place. You couldn’t even go through the items because of the mess and stuff stacked on top of each other.. They clearly don’t have enough room for all of the things that they have.
And let’s be clear, they are getting these things for FREE!! Why are they charging so much for things that you can get BRAND NEW elsewhere? Why not price everything low, let people walk out with tons of stuff, keep the stock fresh and rotated, have room for the new stuff that they get donated daily?! Yes, I understand that they pay overhead, salaries, etc. but imagine how much money they would make if everything were priced low?? They’d make wayyy more than they are making now since I know for a fact that many people are walking out with nothing because of the ridiculous prices! Discount brand name stores like Burlington are selling stuff for cheaper and also have rent, salaries to pay, etc. and ALSO have to BUY their inventory, so what is actually going on here??
I used to love going here- I loved the thrill of the hunt and I loved being able to pay less for things that I needed. But now it’s just completely ridiculous and overpriced, and for the most part, you are better off getting things at a retail store, especially places like Burlington, HomeGoods, TJ Maxx, and Marshall’s… they will generally be much cheaper!!! Come on Goodwill, get it together, this...
Read moreWell, I go to this Goodwill rather than Bayville because of a few reasons. The difference in attitudes between the two stores are night and day. The Bayville Goodwill is not recommended. If you have any kind of depression, anxiety, or anger issues. I used to start feeling depressed as soon as I walked in lol not funny but just saying. Not one employee seems happy and definitely not happy to help. Or as in Brick, all the employees are friendly and happy to help and some pretty funny.. All the Goodwill‘s are ridiculous with their prices and just keeps getting worse . Why would I pay 999 for a used champion pullover sweatshirt with two stains in the front and more pills than a pharmacy? It would take me about 40 minutes to remove them all with my battery operated pill remover and probably unable to remove the stains. Besides the fact, I could probably buy a brand new one for two dollars more in Boscov’s.. Why they insist on putting their tape and labels on the tops or sizes of their items instead of underneath is beyond me and everyone else. It’s damn near impossible to get it off. And if it’s something antique or vintage Your placing right over the name, which is coming off with the tape!! Have an idea people!! Overall good deals but when I saw an elderly man sitting in front of the doors, checking receipts, I almost fell over laughing. The only place that does that is Walmart a store that has new items not donations. One last thing if anybody decides to go to the Brick store this week. There are no colors a.k.a....
