My daughter works for an MJR and she has been taking me to see movies at all the different MJR's. Because of the distance from home, this is one of our last to visit, but allow me to say it is probably the BEST. We haven't been to the Adrian location yet. Tonight we saw Black Adam on a 4k projector in Dolby Atmos in their new VIP seating. Let me say, it was worth every penny and then some (not even mentioning the 60 mile drive through rush hour traffic there, and 60 mile drive back at night). When we first entered the theater the blue fluorescent lighting on the walls really took me by surprise. Definitely provided a modern/futuristic feeling to the event that says, "we are looking forward not back." Whoever thought of these lights, NICE JOB! The first thing when we sat down in the VIP seats was that I got to hang my jacket up right next to me? That's awesome! (I know you're warm and comfy at the end of the movie so don't forget and leave your jacket behind like I almost did) There were the typical drink holders on the armrest, but also a table for me to put my popcorn and candies! No more balancing concessions on my legs! This has all the conveniences of being at home but its so much better! The seats are reclining (as many/most are nowadays), but the the VIP seats are heated also! Really nice when coming in from the cold outside, but I turned mine off somewhere in the middle of the movie. Another nice thing is the center armrest in the VIP seats raises up, which is really nice for us heavier/wider folks that can get crammed between arm rests. Or maybe the younger crowd that wants to cuddle (which I am definitely no longer a part of!)? The picture quality was amazing, like the best TV's at best buy, but 100x larger! Everything was absolutely crystal clear and the detail right down to individual hairs. DOLBY ATMOS is like learning how to appreciate sound in a movie all over again. I remember the first movie I saw with surround sound in a theater and being amazed. Dolby Atmos gave me that same feeling all over again! Also, I will say this, all the MJR's I've been to have been exceptionally clean and very presentable with great and friendly staff. I have never been served old popcorn. ALWAYS FRESH! Every location should be exceedingly proud of their employees and the work they do for your guests. Previous to this, I would say Troy MJR was my favorite because of their HUGE screen. Sorry Troy but Brighton wins hands down now! I guess when you guys are this much better than your competition, the only thing left to compete against, is yourselves. Great job MJR. you're...
Read moreThis has been my go to theater as of late. The upgrades and renovations really catapulted them to the forefront of the modern day local theaters that we have come to know so well.
Every theater has super comfortable "leather" recliners (I prefer these ones to other similar types at other theaters). They have also reduced the over all occupancy size in most of the theaters here which allows for more room per person and a more intimate movie going experience. There are still larger theaters that are used for the more popular films.
They have also added a full bar equipped with many movie themed adult beverages and a few beers on tap, and unlike many other theaters that offer alcohol they have an entire sit down area where you can relax and enjoy drinks before your movie. I personally enjoy a beer or two while watching a movie. And overall it isn't really any more expensive than getting a drink at a normal bar, restaurant, or sporting event.
I have also found that the other concessions and snacks are not as over priced as some other chain theaters. Though they don't have nearly as many food offerings as those other places either (and to me that is okay).
One negative thing I did notice the last time I was in was that you can sometimes hear the movie in the theaters that are next door to the one you're in. I had always assumed that all of the individual theaters were sound proof. It was a very quiet movie overall that I was in, and it was just the bass heavy parts of the film next door that I could seem to hear. Not a deal breaker by any means but it was getting kind of annoying.
I also am not a fan of having to reserve your seats ahead of time, which is what you are required to do here for every film they are showing. It's personal preference really. I just think it takes away from the over all movie going experience. I loved having to show up early to make sure I got a good seat. But hey maybe that is just me.
With that being said, the employees here are always professional and courteous. The over all facility (including the theaters and bathrooms) are clean , and this is just an over all excellent place to...
Read moreGreat movie theatre. Tuesday's are $5 a movie (some exceptions) and if you sign up for the members program you get 1 free popcorn on Tuesdays as well, rewards system and a few ticket for your birthday. You'll also save on the 'online booking fees'..
The seats are one of the few complaints and I'm probably an outlier, as a tall person I don't find the seats as comfy as others do. They're tolerable and more comfy than the old style of seating. The headrest is too low and the leg rest doesn't extend far enough out and would be nice if the chairs leaned back further. Pretty typical of theatres though.
The other thing I don't like is that the movie is listed to start at "9pm" but you have what seems like 10 to 15 minutes of previews. If the movie doesn't start until 9:15, that's the time that should be advertised or maybe 5 minutes before. Just feels deceptive way to force people to watch advertisements.
Always clean, though I've found some of the cup holders have water in them, I assume from condensation from the previous movie goers cold beverage. Just be careful putting things in there that you don't want wet. When I remember I grab a few extra napkins for this.
Can't speak to most of the food and snacks offered as I'll bring my own (shh, don't tell) but will get their nachos (chips and cheese) occasionally. I find a lot of it's overpriced like any other theatre.
The theaters seem to vary and don't exactly match with the seat selection page. The last movie my seat appeared left of center by about two seats but when I arrived I was dead center. Not a big deal, unless you want and try to get a middle seat and up right of center. I also find it difficult to gauge distance from the screen. Though, I'm sure this is a problem with other theaters? Some times middle middle feels too far away and other times one row forward of middle was way too close.
Parking seems adequate, I always try to visit during non peak hours but I have no issues parking further back and walking.
I'm not an avid movie theatre goer so take my review with a...
