CROWDED PATH MOST DAYS ESPECIALLY DURING WARMER MONTHS MAKING IT DIFFICULT FOR CYCLISTS TO MANEUVER AND DANGEROUS FOR FOOT TRAFFIC. NOT EXACTLY A PEACEFUL EASY FEELING. THERE IS ANOTHER DOWNSIDE TO THE PATH BEING MANY STREETS TO CROSS IN HIGHLY CONGESTED AREAS TOO. I WAS STRUCK BY A CAR IN OCTOBER WHILE CROSSING THE CHILD ST CROSSWALK LEAVING ME WITH SEVERAL INJURIES. WHILE RECOVERING AND FINALLY GAINING MOBILITY I WAS NOT ABLE TO RIDE SO I TOOK A FEW TRIPS TO BLACKSTONE VALLEY BIKE PATH ON FOOT AND DISCOVERED A BEAUTIFUL, QUIET, AND REMOTE GEM. FIVE STARS!! THE EAST BAY PATH BEGINS IN BRISTOL AT COLT STATE PARK WHICH IS HUGE WITH A SCENIC WATERFRONT. IT STRETCHES ABOUT 14 MILES TO INDIA POINT PARK IN EAST PROVIDENCE. ALSO BEWARE OF ELECTRIC BIKES FLYING BY. I LIKE THE E BIKES AND THINK ITS A NICE SPORT BUT SOME CAN TRAVEL OVER 45 MPH. THEY ARE VERY HEAVY AND FAST. A TRUE CYCLIST WILL ALWAYS RATHER PEDAL. ALWAYS! IT SEEMS MANY RIDING THEM HAVE NOT RIDDEN A BIKE IN YEARS IF AT ALL. SOME ARE NOT AWARE OF THE RULES. WHY DO THE SIGNS ON THE PATH STATE “NO MOTORIZED VEHICLES” YET THEY ALLOW IT. (A MOTOR IS A MOTOR GAS OR ELECTRIC) THE BIKES WEIGH 40-100 POUNDS OF STEEL WITH MANY INEXPERIENCED RIDERS IS A RECIPE FOR DISASTER. I’VE SEEN ONE INJURY TO A GUY’S ANKLE. HE LIMPED AWAY BUT STILL WAS STRUCK BY A TEENAGER WITH LITTLE EXPERIENCE. I SEE MANY TEENS FLYING BY BUT DO SEE RESPECTFUL ONES SLOW FOR FOOT/BICYCLE TRAFFIC ALSO. A RESOLUTION IS NEEDED SOON AS WITH E-BIKE POPULARITY THE PATHS WILL BE MORE DANGEROUS. JUST MY OPINION. STAY COOL, HYDRATE OFTEN, AND ENJOY...
Read moreLOVE this path!! A great ride from East Providence to Bristol along the water and easy to ride. Only thing preventing me from giving it 5 stars is the length of time they're taking to fix a portion of the path as the detour you have to take his little annoying. Once you ride into Bristol you can check out all the restaurants and shops in the area...
Read moreBike path currently has closed areas, there was no indication of that until you reach that point. I had to take two detours and ended up with stitches on my hand, after a collision on the bridge before Barrington police boat ramp parking lot. They need to have signs, I worry about families with small children, the path it's safe but not the...
