This park is a beautiful piece of nature right in the city and at some parts you don’t even know you’re in a city. However, I learned the hard way that this park is a secret casual meet up spot for men engaging in private adult activity. On my third visit there time I saw a guy engaging in private adult inappropriate behavior on a bench in the woods. You will often see men alone in their cars in the parking lot. I get lots of uncomfortable stares, and you see them check their phone and then look at you back and forth to see if you are also on one of their meetup apps. I’ve seen discarded wrappers on the ground that imply intimate activity. I try to signal that I am just there for walking as much as possible by wearing headphones, carrying thermos, and pretending to talk on the phone. I try to go here to clear my mind and relax but I just don’t think it is possible for me. I think I need to find a new park. I know too much and have seen too much. Which is a shame because it is indeed a beautiful park. If you do go, go during the day time, not in evening. Stick to main trails and avoid the smaller more secluded side trails. If a man is walking alone or lingering around just keep your eyes to yourself, don’t engage, and keep walking. It’s such a shame that such a beautiful park that is supposed to be for everybody, that we all pay taxes for, is ruined by this regular, explicit adult activity. I don’t understand why an app, or bar, or club can’t be used for this instead of a...
Read moreI absolutely love this park. Despite necessary additions, wooden benches, fencing, directional sign and strategically placed large stone, it really feel like they allow nature to run the show here.
Be sure to get off the main trails and do some exploring. There are so many hidden gems to find off the beaten path.
With that in mind, the trails do collect water in some low areas....beware or you might fall victim to a mud puddle. Otherwise, it's a great park. I've spent a lot of time here and I've never been disappointed.
PS. There is wildlife here. Nothing overly dangerous, but is their home. Keep your eyes peeled and leave no trace. It would be nice if we didn't ruin...

The Stadium requires authorization from DeKalb School System to use, but there is a full 1/4 mile laned track & football field inside it. Cameras in park near stadium are monitored by DeKalb School Police, so good for safety near it, not so good if up to no good =p. County Public Pool open in Summer. NEW Trail signage has been...
