Bittersweet. The very first time I went to Koala was last Saturday (10.14.23) Everything was perfect. PERFECT. I had the best cup of jasmine tea I've had in my entire life. We order several appetizers and they did not disappoint. As well as a couple of desserts to go. I was in love. Fast forward to Monday night (10.16.23) I HAD to go back to experience the jasmine tea again. Ordered one for myself and the hubby. Also picked up a couple of sweet breads, all to go this time. Got in the car to immediately take a sip of jasmine tea and it was not the same. Drove off confused and finally decided to turn around and go back in hopes of getting what we ordered. The young man and lady making drinks were very kind and remade the tea and let me taste it to see if it was any better. Unfortunately it was not. It was just as bitter as the first drink and nothing like the smooth lightly flowe drink I'd had previously. Although their patience was running thin, they still tried accommodating me. But the cashier.. the cashier with the long ponytails would bring a new order over for them to fulfill and every time she'd give me this awful death stare as if I'd done something wrong. This I didn't appreciate. I came in and paid for one thing and got something completely different. I did nothing wrong, so there was no reason for her to display such a negative attitude. I finally settled on a completely different drink, that ended up being just ok. There was obviously something wrong with the jasmine tea that evening, so no matter what I got that included it wasn't going to taste right. The pastries on the other hand.. AMAZING. This visit we tried the custard bread as well as the coconut bread. Delicious. The bread saved the day. Too bad the cashier ruined it for me for now. Sure I'll go back again. It may just take a...
Read moreI had been waiting for the opening of Koala since I saw their redesign back in May or something. The drink menu is massive but most of the ones i’ve tried have been pretty good! I haven’t tried much of the food but I did try the tiger skin roll and the Taiwanese popcorn chicken, and I enjoyed both. They do not have many veggie options when it comes to their food however; I only counted two. The atmosphere is very clean and comfortable, I think maybe adding some sheer curtains could block out the harsh light though! And I think once the semester picks up again, it will be very difficult to get a seat or table as it seems like you could only seat 25 people or so. Lastly, I do wish they accepted reusable cups since their cups are not recyclable and they’re made of a thicker plastic. But overall it’s really worth a try and probably my...
Read more1.6.24 update their staff is the sweetest and very accommodating.. Love Love Love their strawberry and cream croissant! I stop by before my nightshift and this makes me shift so much better. Usually bakeries are closed by 5p so this is an unbelievable treat! Really fresh fruit, perfect whipped cream and lightly dusted with powdered sugar!
We love hmart milk bread and this is the closest we've had, maybe even better! Love the perfect croissant with strawberries and cream. Also got the strawberry fruit cup with soft cake layers and whip cream. Not too sweet, the pink bread with cream inside was delish, beautiful chocolate filled croissants.
Lots and lots of different drinks to try, I didn't taste any drinks but everything looked clean and everyone was friendly...
