Wed, April 24 /2024. I usually don't write reviews, but I'm still concerned about my first and only experience at this park, I'll try to be brief. Couple of days ago, I decided to go for the first time to test my new metal detector, I started in the clear open space since I didn't knew nothing about the park or where to go. From far away I see people coming finishing their hiking I guess, it was around 6 or 7 ish pm. But this man did not kept on walking to the parking like everyone else (other 2 ppl). I see a narrow trail in between the bushes and I get inside to search there and from inside the bushes it was dark, so he couldn't see me but I could see him, he looked side to side and started acting very suspicious like running a thought over and over, well, I got out of there and keep on minding my business, but when I walk out he was walking totally in the opposite direction, then I turned when I was coming out of the bushes, and he immediately turn around and started walking my way again. By then I was convinced that he was up to no good, but I tested it once more and again I started walking in one direction, I stopped, he stopped, I walked again and I stopped again, he stopped and then I kinda turn around and he stayed at the there and pull his phone out acting like he was texting then starts walking my direction again. He Well by then I was mad, and I look at him and lock eyes with him for like a solid 1 mins easily (eye lock time). While he was looking I change the metal detector form my right hand to my left hand and the pick axe from my left one to my good hand which is the fight and stayed staring at him. Listen there's not a milimiter of racism on me, I was born in Cuba and half my family are from milk with heavy coffee colored down to an expresso shot colored, I was one of the few specimens that got more milk than coffee, but I need to describe him, he was a lightskin black dude height around 6"2" to 6"4" and he was fixing to do something veryyyyy bad. After a little while I decided that the best thing to do was leaving since it was getting dark, and that wasn't gonna end well. I started walking to the parking and he starts doing the same thing, he look at me once and he kind of walks fast to a white truck, so I patiently place my metal detector in the car and I expected him to stand in the middle of the way that that would be the ideal thing, running him over and one less roach on this world, or he would follow me on the truck idk, but I well when I'm about to pass, the white truck backs up very hard and I stay right where I was waiting for him to go first but then the way truck like rushes out of there and when I look, he was in the other side of the truck and for the position he was, it was very likely that he tried to open that truck. Please be carful out there I know this is a peaceful city but the traumatized childhood abandonment person could...
Read moreThis is a wonderful place for your kids and young adults as well. There are two large open fields for all sorts of sports. They do keep the lawn nice and clean. I feel that this is a less well known spots among people here than the central park and the wolf pen Creek. This place offers something different from all the other parks.
I don't know if you have noticed it or not. There is a nicely designed nature trail in this park. Warning: don't let young kids wander around there alone. There is a marked entrance if you walk straight forward from the gated path, and there are two other ones, one behind the open field on the inside of the park and another one to the left. The trail paths do branch off and join. It is fun exploring different paths. I certainly do not hope that someone upload a complete map of the trail, the discovering of which is the fun in my opinion.
The other spot worthy of your attention is the pavilion or whatever you call that dome structure. I have seen many people successfully climbed onto the top of it, but haven't done it myself with countless failed attempts.
This park is indeed one of the police's favorite hideout spots. They do come here once in a while and may wait at the entrance for speeders.
Also the cats from the Tamu vet department if you are into cats.
I don't think this park is infested with mosquitoes and I usually get away with forgetting to bring along my bug spray. But there is an awful amount of fire ants here. My friend once got serious allergic reactions here, and his face is bloated beyond recognition, believe me it is very nasty. Take your medication with you if you are one of...
Read moreThis place has a really pleasant vibe. The trail starts at the 'City of Bryan' board on College Ave. It is narrow, but it is a very clear trail and there is no need to worry about getting lost, or off track. But feel free to explore! There is an opening where people walk their dogs or play around in the open. This place also has a small kid's park with swings and slides. There is a dome structure which has an interesting echo acoustic.
Overall great place to visit in the evening and hangout with your friends or your pet. It is just a walk or 5 mins drive away from...
