The Allentown Art Festival is THE sign that summer has arrived in Buffalo. Vendors display their wares on several streets throughout Allentown. There is something for everyone. The event has expanded to include an additional group of artists across Elmwood that is not officially part of the festival, but adds eclectic charm including toe rings, wine slushies, & Buffalo souvenirs. I stop into the gas station/convent store at the corner of Delaware & Allen to buy a couple beers that we pour into Solo cups to enjoy as we peruse the tents. No one seems to mind, though I wouldn't recommend flashing alcohol around. Police are prevalent including horse mounted officers. If you wish to pet the horses, they prefer you ask permission. This year I brought two new people for the first time and they thoroughly enjoyed it. They asked me if we could make it an annual event. I laughed and said it has been mine for the past thirty years.

Read moreThis is a great festival to go to each year. Artists all over the country come together for this festival to show off their work and it is amazing. Paintings, photographs, walking canes, wall art, sculptures, lawn sprinklers, etc. Hell, I couldn't possibly tell all of the beautiful things I saw at the festival. Even if you don't buy anything, it's still fun to walk around and see what they got. Food will always be served here. Hot dogs, Italian sausage, burgers, cannoli, whatever. So when the time comes, come to Buffalo, enjoy the art, the food, and anything else that this city...
