The Buffalo Club, located in Buffalo, NY, is indeed a historic monument with a rich and fascinating history. Founded in 1867 by Millard Fillmore, the 13th President of the United States, along with 92 other gentlemen, the club has been a prominent fixture in the Buffalo community for over a century. This exclusive club initially leased the Movius home from 1867 to 1870 and then purchased the Ganson house, both located in significant areas of the city. The club's history is intertwined with several notable figures. For instance, Grover Cleveland, who served as Mayor of Buffalo and later as U.S. President, was elected to the club in 1881 and remained a member until 1908. The club also played a pivotal role during a critical moment in U.S. history. In 1901, following the assassination of President William McKinley, the club served as a headquarters for his cabinet and Vice-President Theodore Roosevelt. Further emphasizing its historical significance, the club boasts an impressive art collection, rivalling many museums. The guest register of the club includes illustrious names like Mark Twain and John Phillip Sousa. In an extraordinary twist of history, the club also served as an unofficial White House in 1901, underlining its importance in American political history. Today, members of The Buffalo Club actively preserve and share the rich stories, artifacts, and history of this institution, ensuring that its legacy continues for future generations.

Beautiful classic social club. Well decorated and maintained. We stayed in the suite and if can get in I highly recommend the experience. Spa, billiards, squash, fitness center. Great restaurant and two bars. Highly recommend.

AKA the Ghost, Patty Thomas exhibited some of her work, told her story, and answered questions. Great evening, excellent food, and her grandson stole the show

I'm sure this place treats its members great, but the surrounding neighborhood not so much! During their last renovation they installed a mechanical unit on their roof that generates an EXTREMELY loud noise at all hours of the day and night, even well into the winter. It sounds like a siren going off when it kicks on. I've spoken to several of my neighbors and they have all also heard the noise but were previously unable to locate where it was coming from. An easy fix that would help mitigate the noise would be to install a sound barrier like some kind of wall around the unit. I work in the HVAC industry and that type of job is simple, quick and cheap. Upon contacting the Buffalo club I was told that there was nothing they could do about it, which is flat-out false. So much for being a "distinctive & storied city club that cultivates a sense of belonging, inclusion and community." The surrounding community only thinks negatively of this place. If you are a member and genuinely care about the community then I would recommend bringing up this issue to their...

I fail to see the justification for the exorbitant cost of membership save the bragging rights. I have attended events in other exclusive clubs that were truly an experience. For example the Core Club in NYC makes you feel as if u are the only member that matters. At the University Club in DC you can expect intelligent conversation in a muted environment without any of the glitz of say The California Club where my wife and I had the misfortune of attending a private event some...
