I didn’t wanna necessarily give them a bad review for this, but just a warning to everyone DO NOT WALK YOUR DOGS IN HERE. I honestly wouldn’t even bring children in here unless I was holding them the whole time. I live nearby and I was curious about the space shuttle so I brought my dogs over there on our walk today. There is a sign when you come in, saying not to interact with the coyotes. But I wasn’t really concerned about it because I’ve seen lots of coyotes in the neighborhood and I have two 90lb Dobermans. Suddenly three coyotes come running at us full speed, snarling and snapping. They tried to surround us and would not back down no matter how much noise I made. They finally backed off a little after I rushed one of them but they were clearly just waiting until I turned my back to try to come up behind us. The whole thing was bad enough that people driving by noticed and a lady drove in and let me and the dogs hop in her car. Another guy grabbed a club and was on his way to help. Generally coyotes wouldn’t bother animals that are larger than them. So I was worried that there were more of them around somewhere. It’s possible they had pups close by but they were by far the most aggressive coyotes I’ve ever encountered. I edited this to 4 stars because there were people working all over and they didn’t even...
Read moreVery cool place to visit. If you enjoy aviation history and cool architecture this place is a must visit. There was a cool replica of the Space Shuttle that accompanied the memorial to the two Space Shuttles (Challenger, Columbia) but has been removed. We visited on 12 Oct 2025. Internet searches still say the Shuttle is still there. There was aircraft of several types that flew directly over us during our visit. As a pilot myself and aviation buff, this sent my excitement soaring. While we were there, we met a wonderful lady named Carol. She shared our excitement of visiting the shrine and seeing the different names and their contributions in the aviation community and history. Enclosed are some of the plaques that were in the shrine. If I can find out more information about the status of the replica Space Shuttle, I will update this post. Fun fact, the shuttle was used in the movie The Core. "UPDATED" I contacted the President of the Burbank Aviation Museum. He said the Space Shuttle is in currently in storage. The Museum is moving to Whiteman Airport. There will be a fundraiser at the airport on 25 Oct at young Eagles Day...
Read moreIn 1924, architect Kenneth MacDonald, Jr. and sculptor Federico Giorgi built the Valhalla Memorial Rotunda, a structure now known as the Portal of the Folded Wings Shrine to Aviation and Museum, on the eastern edge of Pierce Brothers Valhalla Cemetery. The shrine is a 78-foot-tall structure of marble, mosaic, and sculpted figures and is the burial site for fifteen pioneers of aviation. Originally intended to be the entrance to Valhalla Memorial Park, visitors drove through the arches via Valhalla Drive, off Hollywood Way. The Rotunda, with its graceful garden walls and three reflection pools became a tourist attraction, and was used for musical concerts, radio broadcasts and other public events during the 1920’s and 1930’s. The statues and decorative moldings were created by sculptor Federico A. Giorgi, who had created the massive Babylonian elephants and lions for the film...
